Buyout mania is just thrown around Willy nilly this time of year each year. There never seems to be consequences to the GM. The common opinion is that owners have bottomless pockets. Considering each year less than half the teams operate profitable there should be some repercussion in the front office. It's out a doubt there are players in the league paid like superstar's but they really are just AHL guys.
It's does not matter if a team has cap space these are real dollars spent reguardless of the situation each ownership group is not in the buisness to lose money. And each year the price goes up, a team now ties up close to two billion dollars to own. Then turn around spending millions more in buyouts due to crappy decisions on contracts.
