McKenzie, Dreger, and LeBrun made a list of places players are likely to end up in. They listed Horton for us.

Any other players that were listed for us?

Nah, they only mentioned 3. Emery (PHI) Horton (CBJ) and Clowe (NJ)

Here's the tweets

Along with my colleagues @DarrenDreger and @Real_ESPNLeBrun we determined yesterday some good fits and best bets for signings today:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 5m

Ray Emery in PHI; Nathan Horton in CBJ; Ryane Clowe in NJ. But lots of intrigue, shouldn't be long after 12 noon that signings get done.

Don't know where David Clarkson will end up but odds may favor a CDN team. Visited EDM, OTT and hometown TOR. Also visited CBJ.

I really don't want to pay what Clarkson is asking for. He just screams buyout a couple years down the road.

I agree. I think Clarkson would be a good fit, but he wants way too much money and years. I am fine with the money that Horton wants. It is the years I don't really like.

They listed where they thought players would best fit and not where they thought they would end up.

Columbus has been a significant player in the early-goings of the UFA chit chat period... Met Horton, Clarkson; spoke with others.

I like that JD/JK have a pretty tight ship in terms of info leaks. Keeps me intrigued. Doesn't seem like anyone knows what they're up to until they do it (Gaborik) or are on the verge of doing it (Horton).

FWIW i'm going with Horton and Griess as FA signings, bring back Vinny at $2m and Aucoin at Vet minimum...

For that exact reason. Now Giroux can't be signed till he is 40+ yrs old.

Dollars not term. On a side note, it should be 6 years max. Contracts are not adjusting, yet, to the new CBA. Teams are obviously hoping for significant cap increases.

Something to consider; with some of the insane contracts going on right now, a player (contract really) that might have been untradable in the past, such as RJ, might be starting to look a whole lot better around the league right now. To be fair, other than the Bob contract (which was a bit out of JK's control), JK has set us up very well with other contracts to be able to absorb bigger contracts.

I'll be honest, a Horton contract scares the hell out of me.

In the future, if something doesn't really change next season I don't see Johansen being reasonable with his contract demands and could very well be on the move.

My hope for today is actually a bit outside the box. Get Horton, see if we get get Gagner out of Edmonton (or something similar with another team) with a deal around a defensemen, and resign Aucoin as the 7th dman (stop gap for development) and see if we can get someone to take RJ (assuming he agrees to a trade and maybe eat a million of his contract over the next 4 years to get the deal done if we have to).
