Oh man, the same Vondras who had the second worse save % in the OHL? WHAT A GET!

I think the original criticism was how Wolves’s don’t get Euros to report. No? When an NHL Drafted goalie performs below expectations, whose fault is that? He was drafted by NHL evaluators. So I guess your now gonna blame the Wolves management for Carolina Scouts being poor at they’re jobs..
There kids. It’s a crap shoot. They aren’t all gonna be Dvorsky good, we got lucky with him and UPL. But it’s so easy to complain about anything and be negative. Why don’t you do an analysis of Imports reporting across the CHL. I think you’ll be surprised that the number of players reporting to teams is down across the country.
To counter your negativity, I will predict with the influx of American players coming to OHL thereby improving the quality of play, you will find more import players/agent and NHL teams wanting their prospects developing in the CHL…

So what's the deal? Is Paps staying on as GM?

Well it looks that way. Who will Wolves ownership get that will do a better job? Let's be honest coming to Sudbury to be solely a GM isn't on many wish lists for people except Seidal. And we know he all know another local guy would do nothing but get people all fired up in here again. Plus I believe even Zulich would not be that stupid to hire Seidal. Papineau's drafts have been decent. Made two bad deals in his tenure. Can't really dismiss him just on that. My only criticism is that he does not tinker soon enough in a year when it's an all in year for playoffs. As well way too many small or soft guys up front. Villy cannot be the only guy who plays aggressively. He was worn out by end of the season and still managed to be the most complete player up front.

But the 2023-24 run bringing in Giroux was a mistake. We went smaller by shipping out Toure and rid ourselves of Protz who at the time was one of the most aggressive defensive checkers. On top of that would have still had two seasons after for the Wolves. The only deal we needed to make was McCoy and should have got another 19 year old forward out of Peterborough. Melee or Lefevere would have been much more valuable than Giroux. Goaltending could have been better and maybe using the picks we gave up in the Protz deal would have been better served getting a starting goalie and shipping one out. And if that meant dealing Vondras we could have brought in another import up front as well. It's that type of thinking our GM needs to have more of when building for the playoffs. But this is all in hindsight of course.

But again his drafts have been really good. A few too many US players were picked in previous drafts without some of them reporting. i.e Red Savage and I hope this doesn't happen after this draft as it was the most US born players ever selected.

The Import draft has had some success , and it's too bad last year our picks didn't report or this team would have had the additional dept up front and things may have been different come deadline. This coming year the CHL is allowing 3 import players to be selected. This will be very interesting as we had a tough time bringing in one last year so to get three will take lots of handwork and convincing. If the Wolves can somehow get Nemec, Chovan and another defensive import to report to replace Mews that would make our rebuild turn around that much quicker. The signing of Bennett so early is a really good sign and let's hope the Wolves can get Provonov to sign this quick too. I would suspect Smith and Harris to be two other guys to possibly get signed. The major question is what goalie are we going to sign. We have Bronas, Beites, and the recently drafted 18 year old US born tender. With Marshall coming back with some experience under his belt it would be nice to see the Wolves sign two goalies and have them all remain in the area throughout the year.

It's more than just 2 trades, there's the Giroux trade but if you are bringing in 2 dmen someone has to move plus as an OA Toure was that only option. We gave up 8 picks and Protz to Brantford for two 19 year old dmen who one was moved and the other may not be back. Then you have the Mews trade, the conditions were on the wrong picks that's just the trades. Also when it comes to Vondras I don't think they could have traded him as 1st year import, and we never were getting another goalie that year after giving up 2x 3rds for Vandenberg.

You bring in a coach to establish a culture, the good consistent teams establish a culture and stability. London has had one voice for 20 years, Kitchener had Spotts then went to DeBoer for a while. The Batallion had Butler then moved to Oulahen and Dennis continuing after playing and coaching with Butler. What have we had? According to Elite prospects Paps has been GM since the 2017-18 season that's 8 years, in those 8 years we have had 6 coaches, SIX!!!!!. Only Stillman had more than one full season as Coach. What other OHL team has a coaching history of that? Niagara is the only one that comes to mind.

When it comes to goalies after the draft Chartier, Beites, Leonard, and Bronas has no chance of making this team if Cameron reports. If Cameron reports he is on the team by default he ain't coming to go to the Nojhl, and any team that drafts him wouldn't want him as backup, it's Vondras 2.0.

Paps must be ecstatic that they are adding another import slot though.

Watching the elite teams in the OHL, it's very obvious teams have identities, London, Windsor, Oshawa, Barrie, etc, all these teams have players who play a certain way, with that identity. The wolves have no such identity. The best I can describe their current identity is forcing the puck to 1-2 offensive talents, and then the rest of the roster stands around and takes dumb penalties.

Right and they pick players that play that way. They also utilize their affiliate systems really well. Soufville Spirit commonly gives us quality dmen, Anania came from there and Smith will be coming from there too

I wish they'd send more players to Stoufville and other leagues rather then the NOJHL. Leagues with more competitive balance are better for developing players.
