Let’s hope Brampton comes back against the Gens. GM James Richmond traded Ryerson Leenders, Coben Bryan and 30 picks (1 conditional) for their run this season. That’s 8x2nds, 7x3rds and 6x4ths…with 7 other lower picks.
Brought in Connor Smith, Brayden Gillespie,Allison, Chase Lefebvre, Jacob Gibson, Spencer Sova and Rehkopf.
And we think we are hard done by….this is what it takes to TRY to win. No guarantees in hockey. Let’s see how this turns out.
3 first round exits and 30 draft picks later and no Leenders, I wonder what happens next in Brampton.

Maybe to play with his former teammate Blonda and his brother where his father and other brother played as well; and I would not at all be surprised if Terry was invited to join the circus in a coaching capacity.
If Terry is not involved in some capacity you have a chance of no Chitaroni's on Wolves next year

Let’s hurry up and fire all the Wolves Scouts! I’m gonna guess not many 6th round picks from last NHL draft are signing ELC. Congrats to Keiron Walton.
Can lay the scouts off this szn since we traded all our picks away…. Lol

In all honesty the scouts have done a pretty good job, and that’s gonna be how this team succeeds is by drafting late round gems. (If we have picks)

You have to be related to Rob Papineau lol.
I just feel all the negativity is unjustified. Wolves haven’t had the success everyone wants, so scrutinize away! When you don’t win, everything needs to be looked at with a critical eye but identifying and drafting future NHL talent is an area I feel the team has been successful.

Have not had the success everyone wants? I think as single round 2 game win in his entire tenure is a pretty reasonable frustration is it not? Have some standards for the team we cheer for.

100% Agree we need to have playoff success beyond one round!
Every fan would agree with this desired goal. This year’s team’s goal was to make the playoffs after losing Goyette, Dvorsky, and company. Collectively I think our expectations were set too high after a very strong start with a new coaching staff and a weaker schedule. IMO we should have sold Musty and at least one OA D at deadline, but we didn’t. Bad timing with injuries and inexperience didn’t service us well this past playoff. Look, if the owner feels the need to fire everyone and start over that’s his prerogative.
I’ve been around long enough to realize that after a 4 game sweep die hard fans are gonna vent out of frustration but my main point was to recognize the great job the Wolves scouts do recognizing NHL talent. I mention the scouts particularly because some wanted them all fired.

Keep in mind Walton was a 2nd round pick in his OHL draft, he might have flew under the radar during his draft year, he was on mostly 3rd and 4th line on last years talented team.

More credit to Winnipeg scouting staff in drafting him.

He was ranked in the late first by a few of the "big" lists out there. Was considered a bit of a faller on draft day.

Not sure about others, but after many prior experiences, I have no interest in players nor staff being added based on their family.
Sorry didn't mean to make it sound like Terry wanting to be hired should have been more clear in my post. Don't think he is happy with style of play and direction of organization and wouldn't be a shock to see a trade request

If he does not want to be here, they can gladly ship him off to whoever drafts his brother. He spent a large portion of the season not looking like an OHL season after a strong start. Change of environment could be good for him.

We need to draft a goalie with one of those top 40 picks. We can't keep trading picks for Goalies. Ranger cost us a 4th and Purboo was a 3rd, 2x 4ths and a conditional 5th for example. We were lucky with Weeks and Krawchuck to an extent in the U18 Draft and don't know what Beites may be. Our goalies this year are likely Marshall, Chartier or Beites, then next season likely Beites and a goalie drafted this year if Beites comes back. At the moment we have no 3rd until 2027 and other than getting a 2nd back from the Hage trade we have no seconds until 2029 so goalie needs to be now.

On defence I'd imagine we are looking at Roberts, Mews, O'Dell, Blonda, Wreggit, Smith and Kearns. So agree don't need to draft a dman with the first 3 picks. If things stay as they are, lots of potential but lots to learn to.

Last time we had 3 top 40 picks we took McCallum at 15, Stillman at 25 and Larmand at 26.

If we are lucky and I mean lucky we could get Chitironi at 11 and Roberts at 38. Roberts likely is available at 38 though.

when have they drafted goalie that worked out?

chitironi will go top 7, roberts top 20 or so. i dont think roberts will be back as an oa

That's the point, we haven't put an effort in getting one of the top goalies available. Since 2016 the highest drafted goalie we had was Gaulton at 43rd of the 2nd rd outside of that its been 5th or later. Our best goalies in the period drafter by us has been UPL (import), weeks (U18) and krawchuck (U18).

Gaulton got unlucky with missing most of his 16 year old season in Espanola due to injury.

Like i said if we were lucky we could pull that off. You would know the rankings better than me

the top goalie will go in the 1st round i think, after that its a mix of who knows what. i just don't know if they have the ability to find a good goalie. you look at teams like owen sound and north bay, they find quality goalies in the 3rd - 6th rounds, i dont know that papineau has the ability to do that.

i do think that bieles in st andrews is a good prospect, and potential starter, not sure why they havent gotten him signed yet.

He was reportedly at practice in the last few weeks of season since around the time Kearns came. Maybe it was a card issue we did use alot of different players this year.

I'd like to see what Bietes can be. I agree I don't think Paps can do that unfortunately. I think we should be going a different direction with the GM.

run with him and marshall next year in a rebuild year, assuming he would sign. i dont know why he wouldnt, although sometimes players dont love playing in their hometown.

the best north american goalie they have drafted and developed over the last 10 years is who, weeks?
