Sudbury Wolves 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

I think I'm at the point where is Mews goes on to NCAA, I could not be happier. What a disaster of a trade.
The disaster is he is a pp qb that was played on the 2nd unit. If you were leaving DeAngelis on the 1st unit, don't waste the picks on someone for the 2nd unit that gets 30 seconds.

He's a shorthanded goal machine even on the 2nd unit. If the wolves paid what they did, for a guy who can't play 5 on 5, that is a disaster.

Was hard to hear because the audio was so bad, but it sounded like Villeneuve told Amanda "I don't know how many years I have left in this league"

Depressing 2nd period of hockey from the Wolves. Completely outclassed by the Fronts. Props to them. Men against boys out there. Inching closer and closer to waving bye bye to Papineau.

There is a bit of a rumor around that he has a matching offer with Mews for ncaa

Yeah, I've heard similar, but this seems to confirm it if that is indeed what he said. Like I mentioned, it was a bit hard to hear because of how bad the audio feed is.

I thought I heard the same but Villeneuve had the mic up past his cheek + something about Harley's on the rink? He doesn't seem like he'd benefit from NCAA development as much style wise because it's harder to play his grittier game but maybe there's a Seattle component.

It will depend on what Seattle decides to do, if they have seen enough to sign him and do he will be back. If not it's anyone's guess.

I'd imagine if Seattle doesn't sign him then he goes to the team and says trade me to one of A b c teams or I'm gone NCAA, if he's nice atleast.

Well, I've pretty much written the Wolves off here. Pretty brutal 2nd period. I've got my tickets to Thursday night's game for what could possibly be my last game in the old barn :(

My partner got accepted to vet school overseas and I'll be joining her so we'll be leaving in August. Going to make the most of it and enjoy my time even if the Wolves lose. It's a shame that I only got into hockey last season.

Go Wolves!

As bad as Papineaus work has been, as many players have been underwhelming, it's on the coach to get the team to show up and they've completely failed in that respect.

same problem last year, leadership group needs to push the team, so much a coach can do.

Building a winning culture within organization hasn't happened in a long time.

Hopefully we can get the right manager to draft players that are dogs and have no quit mentality.

I think the coaching staff is the best we have had in long time. The depth after the first line drops off quite a bit, these kids have to take advantage of the opportunity and step up their game.

I wasn’t quite sure about having 7 D and less forward tonight. I feel you can’t role out the right pairings and players usually can’t get the right feel. Have to have 4 lines and 6 D. Just my opinion but regardless certain players were so out of it tonight and seemed to not even want to be playing the game. Slow foot speed was a major factor in the second period collapse and losing so many puck battles in their own end.

All the best in your new venture, your posts and opinions will be greatly missed.
Wolf on a Wire

Wolves were beat by a more determined team. Can’t have more than half the team come out and go through the motions. No pulse and no legs.

Watching tonight’s game it was like the Fronts knew our game plan. The Fronts shut down everything the Wolves tried to do and effectively counter attacked.
Lidos to a great team win K-Town.

That’s good coaching from Kingston. Something we don’t have. Once our coach seen it wasn’t working he should’ve changed up the game plan.

For the final game, I say leave Street in the stands. Dress Delic, even if he's not healthy, just have him sit on the bench and he'd contribute more to the team.
Street is the least of our worries. Team has no heart. Their season is on the line and they have no sense of urgency. Just floating out there. And the coach is clueless. Kept running the same plays and seen it wasn’t working, but continued to run them. And he shows no emotion. If the coach doesn’t show emotion how do you expect the players to. At least Street was doing his job. Can’t say the same for the rest of the team. Excluding Musty who is still hurt and Villy who I think is still feeling the effects from that hit on Sunday. He didn’t look like himself last night. Henderson and Clayton had a good game, but that’s about it.

RP gets his last draft upcoming. Dario has to step up to the plate and do what's right going forward. Can't make RP make anymore roster decisions going forward. He's had the job since 2016. It's time
Shouldn't leave him around for the draft. Let the scouts handle it without him. Just give Barney his seat at the table so that we get the type of players he thinks they need to win.
