No but it seems like people are suggesting that the wolve should have taken the first offer made and because they didn't they are a bad organization so I put a bs offer that would never be accepted.

The fact that Dario said to fans he isn't giving him away says the offers haven't been good

‘not giving Musty away’ goes without saying. It does not mean offers haven’t been good any more than it does Musty will not be traded for any less than a clear win for the wolves.

Ok so you are suggesting that Dario is saying screw him I'm not moving him?

We will never know what was offered for Musty. However, if there was an issue with Sudbury not trying, I am sure that Grier might have said something. No one was going to offer THE package. at this stage of the game. They will wait to see
a. if he makes the US team
b. is he healthy after the WJC,
c, Where they stand in the playoff run and do they need offence or defence

As to 08 not wanting to come to Sudbury there are ways around tht, but I really think that Sudbury has shown that they produce players who are drafted,

Does anyone want to bet that two of the teams on the list were London and Erie? London has the players it needs, while Erie may not want to deplete itself and become the Petes of the West.

I give the GM Kudo's for not panicking and doing to Sudbury what Kooper eneded up doing for wright.
Kingston got

MIedema (not setting the league on fire
McCarthy - Boston U
Ethan Weir
Vellaras

Niagara’s fourth-round pick in 2024 and 2025 along with Niagara’s sixth-round pick in 2025

The way that the Dogs are playing these are not gong to be the picks that they thought they were

No, it doesn’t; you could infer if you choose that Dario wants more. Most people want more of everything.
Well there are 2 choices either the offers have been fair and Dario and the team are garbage for not accepting them or the offers aren't there and they are waiting. To me his comments say the offers aren't there and they are waiting.

What Grier said to the agent was get your client playing whether it’s a trade or back in Sudbury, get him back on the ice. The Sharks found out about the trade request the same time as Sudbury did.

If Musty’s 200 ft game develops under this coaching staff as per the Sharks wishes, everyone wins. This will be forgotten in a few weeks and Musty will be moved at the deadline for a good package including an 08.

Zulich has left that up to Papineau and the offers weren’t there. As mentioned prior, teams don’t know where they are at and what they are comfortable giving up in assets for a top 5 talent. A team like Erie, for example, is not giving up their best 07 player plus package this year but may be ok with their 08 once they see what they have in him. That’s not usually known until the New Year. Most contending teams are in the same place right now.

Take this with a grain of salt because it just can’t possibly be true. But this is from a guy who’s well connected in the OHL and has been right on just every trade he’s told me ahead of time. My only thought is maybe this was the ask for Musty+Villenueve or Musty+Walton? Even then it would be really high. But this for just Musty would be one of the craziest things I’ve heard

I can’t believe that is true. It simply cannot be true. The only way that is true is if the two organizations have had quarrels in the past and that is the Go F Yourself proposal from Sudbury to London in response to an equally ridiculous trade proposal received by Sudbury from London. For example, London offers a 2nd, 3rd, and 5th for Musty and Sudbury comes back with that equally ridiculous proposal as a F U.

In no realm of possibility would any OHL GM toss that over the wall to another GM unprovoked. They’d know they would never be taken seriously ever again. To me, that is “you’re fired” territory for being a clown.

Someone is stirring the pot with that one by leaving out any sort of nuance surrounding it.

Of course Erie is not giving up Schaefer, plus; that would be insane

Everyone needs to settle down. One of the main reasons why teams give up their 1st round pick at the deadline is becuase it is a valued player that is likely not contributing yet so the player is expendable in the short term. I know we have seen a few blockbuster deals this year obviously not involving 1st rounders but that isn’t the norm. Musty will likely end up being traded for an ‘08 plus a couple picks depending on what pick slot the player they trade for was picked. If he goes to Barrie and Vaughn is involved then less picks. IF he goes to Saginaw and Zhilkin is involved then it will be more picks.

Yeah you see in the message my response is that can’t be true. But as I said, this perosn is well connected in the OHL and told me of the Betucci to BAR trade, Leenders to BFD, Barlow to OSH and Eliasson to BAR well before each one happened, so I trust what they say. There’d be no reason for SBY to tell someone this, even if it was true. So it had to have come from another GM. Either LDN saying how dumb the ask was or another GM saying this is what they’re claiming they asked LDN for, trying to up that teams offer? Who knows, but anyone even remotely engaged in the league knows this wasn’t gonna happen

For sure. To me that totally sounds like a passive aggressive response to an insulting initial offer from London. To me, that would make some sense.

The issue for me is that these deals don’t usually go down like this. It is not often that names are inserted into a deal until the two sides agree on some sort of parameters. For example, the professional GM’s would say, “Iwant a quality younger player, a reasonable replacement older player that can at least fill a hole plus a couple 2nds and 3rds.” The responding GM would say whether they agree on the parameters or not. For example, “ I cannot see us doing a deal like that. I am not prepared to part with younger players right now. Woudl you consider a picks package similar to the Leenders deal?”

That is how good GM’s approach trade discussions. They don’t jsut go around tossing out names specifically because they don’t want their offers to be auctioned off.

This is why I cannot see an opening salvo including specific names like that.

I can believe it. The reported ask for Thompson was Bertucci, 2-2nds, 3-3rds. Papineau kept London on hold until ~10 minutes to deadline in Stillman discussions.

Of course, right at the deadline, things can get crazy and you can throw the professionalism a little out the window when there is 1 hour left before the bell rings. But, at this time of year, things typically aren’t done like that. If a team has a GM that approaches trades like that then that is a GM that needs to go to GM School.
