Well the waiting is the hardest part. I watched the last game in North Bay and some concerning things. I know Kingston wasn’t the strongest competition but North Bay did not seem like a team missing key players. It looks like they have good depth and guys can step up in different roles. Not to mention the backup goalie looked amazing. Let’s hope things change with better competition and the loss of those key players starts to take its toll but they sure didn’t look like a wounded duck.
They approached the trade deadline the right way

If the Battalion had everyone available, this series would be a coin toss. As it is, missing key players tilts the outcome in favour of the Wolves. Neither of these teams will end up winning the Memorial Cup but for now, their owners will benefit from strong ticket sales and the bonus of not having hotel expenses.

Holding back ticket sales for North Bay fans for the first two Wolves home games is disgraceful. Parents and billets of players must be quite impressed. Nothing surprises with this organization of late.

With the series starting tomorrow figured i'd post a few of what I think the keys will be

Wolves really need to take 2 of the first 3, longer this series goes, I think the better North bay's odds are.

5 on 5 offense has to improve, and not at the expense of defense. The Goyette/Delic line did well at 5 on 5 vs Mississauga, but the other three lines did not see the same quality of chances.

Wolves D-core are going to need good performances out of all 6 guys, North Bay's depth, even with injuries is outstanding, there won't be any "easy" assignments.

Wolves forwards need to play with smart physicality. Nelson is far and away North Bay's most important player given their lineup situation right now. Nelson is a guy who can get frustrated when you play him physically, wolves need to take advantage of that.

Goes without saying the Wolves need Vondras/Vandenberg to continue their solid goaltending in this series as well.

Taking Wolves in 6, and the series will be very close despite the injuries/suspensions on North Bay's side.

So you are okay with this, I am not so I voice my opinion to get feedback. If you are the type of person who is content with this then give us an opinion why. You only get change if you share opinions.

I'm on the fence with this. I agree Sudbury-area residents should get first dibs. There's nothing wrong with waiting 48 hours before the game to buy tickets. On the other hand, I live in North Bay and am a Sudbury fan. However, I usually get standing room so I know I'd be able to get in because we all know at the Den, the standing room tickets are limitless haha I remember standing 4 rows deep during the 2007 playoff run to the OHL finals

Wolves historically have had a really hard time making it out of the 2nd round. Only times I can remember are 1995 and 2007... :help:

Huge opportunity for the boys this 2nd round.

Before my time but 1975 is the only other time since 1972.

I'll also die on the hill that the 2000-01 team was the most talented team they ever had, and lost out because of Bert Templeton's ego.

I agree, that one still hurts to this day. Heartbreaking. That was a damn good team. The Wideman+picks for Kelly/Jancevski trade. A young Mike Smith in net. The black out game. A Dave Cameron coached Toronto team. Blew a 3-1 series lead and lost Game 7 on home ice.

There's a number of these trades, where there seems to be little value changing hands. Why are these trades executed. I am missing something...

More current pick holds more value.
I think upgrading from a 5th pick to 4th is significant for Flint as they had 2(2,3,4,5) picks this year.
The trade gives the wolves a 5th this year which they did not have prior to the trade.

Do you ever stop complaining
Ditto!
I think it’s completely reasonable. I wouldn’t care if Northbay did the same as long as I got in the arena. I had to laugh at the part of the article where they say I guess “they would rather their arena be half empty”. More like theirs would be without us.

Thanks. Saved me from replying. Many of us have suffered with this franchise for decades. We are and should be the priority! Good on them.

While watching the Philadelphia game, I was talking to my dad about the very same thing. I’m not sure that’s what’s happening in Philadelphia but that sure is what happened that year for us. It was about the worst game seven imaginable. Something happened during the course of that series that turned the team off Templeton completely, and they totally quit on him.
Maybe if the lights hadn’t gone out in Toronto earlier in the series while we were winning….. We sure didn’t finish that series like we started it.

I’d love it but have a hard time seeing it.

With Mike Smith in net I believe. Went on to have a very good career.

If goaltending stays solid as it has been we will win the east as I think Ottawa will beat Oshawa
I agree, but Ottawa wouldn’t be an easy pill to swallow. They are very well coached. Just thought of it though. Imagine home ice for the Conference final! Too much.

I believe OHL teams are only able to maintain the rights to a certain amount of players(50 last I knew?) so teams are generally shuffling around picks between years to stay under that number.
