Walton plays exactly like Musty. Makes me wonder if he is on his way out? Why not address our goalie need with that pick and defensive holes in the future. Not saying it’s a bad pick. Just wonder if your replacing Musty, with a bigger version of Musty? Food for thought
I doubt Musty is leaving. I would say it’s more like Papineau cannot pass up any value on a forward at the expense of D and G; and, Musty-Walton-Pharrand is a potentially imposing line that fits Duncanson’s style

Let’s hope the Wolves select a goaltender and defence in the European draft. With Russians Belarus players out, tougher to get what they need.
Would expect lots of defence to be drafted today in the remaining rounds.

They could end up trading for a more established G and have Gaulton backup learn the league and develop him into a great starter in a few seasons!

Typically not many goalies are selected in the first two rounds of the draft. I think with Walton on the board there was just too much upside to pass on him. BPA

We drafted a G 43rd overall. That’s not late to pick a goalie, granted he’s the 4th goalie of the board but we don’t know where the scouting staff had him ranked.

I have no doubt that today we will read that the goalie was ranked high; last year Papineau stated, the goalie selected in round six was ‘the only goaltender we had on our board’.

Looking forward to seeing this group at rookie camp, hopefully, a lot of players who I don't see much about out there.

Wolves are gonna score goals , but let’s hope with these defenders picked today and other in the system, that the Robinson twins can be eliminated and some new can stop opposing forwards at the blue line. Concentrate on that and the Wolves will be dynamic.

3 straight players from the Mississauga Senators. Did we have a scout living in their rink? Not sure I remember the last time we took this many GTHL kids either.

So far 2 players out of the Ottawa area and 7 out of the GTHL.

4 straight D in rounds 4-7, interesting. The Wolves really love those early-mid round D selections. I guess they have a lot of faith in Collins, Mania and the other young guys. Probably go D and G in the import draft.

Delic - Goyette - Konyen --> Absurdly skilled, we know this works, should be one of the highest scoring lines in the league
Musty - Villeneuve - DeGrazia --> Some bite to this line to go along with a ton of skill, Musty should produce like Goyette did this year next year
Boudreau - Pharand - Walton --> Big, heavy, and skilled, tons to like here and they should be punishing to play against
Assadourian - Larmand - Derbridge --> really pesty line that also has a ton of potential if Assadourian and Derbridge step forward
McCallum --> Ship him out

Holmes - Import --> Holmes is a good #2/3 dman, but they need that import to be a big hit, 1D is lacking
D. Robinson - Collins --> Healthy Robinson is a fine #3, but health is the question, without it, this pair lacks. Collins could step forward or could not, TBD.
Hoover - Mania --> Mania will be great next year, this bottom pair is a luxury and shows the depth of the blue line. Mania should be in a top 4.
Anania/Bishop --> Bishop might be an impact player, lots TBD

Import --> The most important thing after getting a 1D is how the goalies are
Gaulton

Something will give, wayyyyy too many #4-6 D with P Robinson, all of last years D picks, and all of this years D picks on the outside looking in. The one noticeable thing about that squad, it is massive, and nasty to play against. Seems the Wolves really want to surround the skilled guys like Goyette with size and tenacity, which is nice. All of the forward lines look really good, so ship off McCallum/some D and some picks to acquire a true impact Dman and that team is ready to rock. Landing two good imports would also be huge for this team, as a 1D and 1G is really all that's lacking.

That Huynh pick is getting a ton of love, some mocks had him R1. Between that and Walton, sounds like Sudbury got a couple steals.

What is your OA situation next year? Would a Tynan <-> McCallum swap make sense for Sudbury?
I'm not going to speak for all wolves fans, but personally, I'd instead go after someone who is not such a hot head that he gets himself suspended in the playoffs. That's assuming that they don't just draft an import.

Overall great draft! Wolves can still get a solid player in the under 18 draft. A few solid ones were missed last year and we pick early. As well be wicked to get our Finnish imports to land here next year. Make a swap for a goalie out of Sarnia and add an OA and we will have a very deep team. Exciting times to come.
