First job out of the way! Now to execute on the road. Hope for Delic to get back into his groove soon. A little rust tonight but that was expected. McCallum appears to not be playing 100% as well. Nice to get the sloppy one out of the way. Hope they can clean up the play on the weekend. Be really nice to beat the Petes on Monday and gain some ground on them. Lets go Wolves!!! Brassard needs to steal us one this weekend. Expecting a bounce back game from him soon.

A couple of observations from last nights game: Pharand needs to play with an intimidating edge to free up some space for his offensive upside. He doesn’t need to fight all the time but he should play in the mild of Yearwood and Coughlan and finish every possible play with a punishing check. The kid can score!
Konyen doesn’t get enough love. This kid is always there when needed. Plugs holes on top line, fearless for size as he get knocked down a lot and has great offensive instincts. Next to Musty, might be the best puck distributor. No quit in this kid:ie: 2nd goal last night.
Quietly, Anania is turning into a responsible DZone-DMan while being our most physical player on the back end. Also, he has great instincts in the OZone. Great value.
Speaking of Great value, the JT trade to SSM 2 years ago keeps paying great dividends with Boudreau. The pure definition of an honest hockey player. The kid has surely developed this season and along with McCallum, Mania and Robertson under our new coaches. Boudreau is a strong bottom 6 player and one of the better PK guys in the OHL.
The Dogs will be a tough game, they are playing much better of late so let’s keep the push going….

Please tell me you’re joking when you try and tell me Konyen is a great passer OMG. I like him on the third line because it’s his game north/south shoots from every possible angle don’t need to look to make plays.

That was a great read on Musty. I had commented before on his lack of explosiveness and inability to separate, it is interesting to read on causes. It is interesting to note comments on growth in change of coach. Is the skating correctable? I believe working with a skilled skating coach can reduce the deficiencies, it will be up to his drive and willingness to change to effect lasting change. Also it might require some gym time to work on agilityand explosiveness. He does seem slight and maybe his body will fill out some as he ages. It could make the difference on being a top 6 or a guy who floats between the bottom of a NHL roster and the AHL.
We have all seen minor hockey players who seemed fantastic and never quite make it. A lot of times they matured faster and were bigger and as they aged, others caught up to them. I for one hope QM can now grow the other parts of his game.

Im not qualified to speak on whether or not his skating will improve enough for the next level with a skating coach. I think it will help some but will it be enough. Some guys are just blessed with good skating skills.

I'm really curious now to see which round he goes in come draft night.

Very detailed. I've always noticed his skating/explosiveness not being great. Should be interesting to see where he goes in the draft.
Although his skating needs more technical improvement his power has noticeably improved. The improvements being seen this year are attributed to an increase in strength and confidence. Musty has bought into his nutrition and lost the baby fat he had as a 16yr old. Now, as the report indicates, if he can lengthen his stride and continue to gain strength we will see another gain. Regardless of his current skating status, there has been massive improvements (not perfect) in his 200 foot game since Xmas.
Also, coach DM will need to find ways to get him into better positions to be a shooter. Musty himself could be a bit more selfish and shot more instead of looking pass. Love the detail and examples of the scouting report! Big game today.

I think we could all take a page out of your book and realize our limitations on how we criticize the elite young athletes.
Big two games ahead! Hope we can get all the points.
Interested to see what the lines are with Delic back and McCallum looks to be playing injured

Nope, not joking. My point is, I feel he is the forgotten 18year old who is quietly adding great value to the team. Just trying to show him some love.
