Just some pre-season spit-balling here.....

There's definitely a fit for Mayer being traded to the Wolves.
You guys saw first hand in the playoffs last year all that Mayer can bring to a team.
He also has a connection with Goyette so the transition would be easier.

My question is: what kind of interest you will have in Owen Beck?
He won 58.6% of his faceoffs last season and one of the key parts of the Petes' success last season was having Beck, Robertson and Dubois who were all over 55% on faceoffs.
It looks like you guys have some players that played center last year but are also listed as wingers - Pharand, McCallum.
Do you see a spot for Beck? If "yes", IMO there is a definite possibility that Beck + Mayer could go to the Wolves for Taylor ++++

So many moving parts........I guess we'll see

I think the Wolves would/should want Mayer now; and, I think the Petes are better off trading Mayer alone and now. Gauvreau and Dubois are worth a whole lot more playing for the Petes than traded…for a 6th?
If Kingston is serious about contending and offers Hopkins, Kingston likely gets Beck & McCoy.

So what do you think the Petes should get for Mayer?

Taylor: smart, great vision, processes game at a high level and pro shot (as advertised) gets it off quick and hard.
Protz: bigger/stronger, fast feet, great gap and calm. No panic in DZ and tape2tape on first pass out of DZ. Beast.
Jackson: Tall/ quick great pivot, excellent with and without puck. Will be a go to D with Wolves but most likely not this year.
Chitaroni: smart, shifty with puck and head always up and on a swivel. Sees ice extremely well and distributes puck to teammates on time. Tough. Will be a blue collar star in Sudbury (eventually).
Connors: smaller stature, but he is an elite skater with Makar-like edges. Handles puck extremely well. Don’t let the size fool you as he competes and works like Villie.
Brehmer: Big, creative, never stops, uses teammates very well…very fast feet and he loves to battle for the puck. Interesting.
Don’t know enough about goaltending to give an opinion, but they all showed well.

Figure i'll drop my two cents in here as well, going to stick to the positives since today was essentially rookie camp, but I'll say some of the players on the ice who are already signed to the team were not putting in 100% effort, surprising considering their spots are not locked up.

Villeneuve: Man amongst boys, that is all.

Braydon Bruce: Honestly, looked like an OHL defender on the ice, not the best skater, but makes decisions at OHL speed already, was honestly really blown away by him, we'll see how he keeps up with the full squad.

Jayden Connors: Smaller, but gritty and incredibly talented, likely won't have a spot next year, but will keep me excited to see his development heading into next year.

Owen Protz: Not quite as good as Bruce, but still, one of the best defenders on the ice. Well rounded skillset, very solid on his skates as well.

Hudson Chitaroni: Incredible work-rate, left me a bit concerned about how much skill he has, but will definitely play in the OHL and be a favorite.

Josh Colosimo: Not a guy I was expecting to notice but played a good gritty game.

Marshall McCharles: Completely blew me away, obviously will be in tough to make the team, but the kind of players the wolves want on the 4th liner/13th forward lots. Good skate, plays with pace, pretty gritty as well.

Caden Taylor: Definitely not a perfect prospect, but that shot is out of this world. Though he made some smart plays as well.

Bjorn Bronas: This might be our goaltender of the future. The best a 16-year-old has looked in rookie camp in a long time at the goaltending position.

Will agree with you on the talent of Bruce but I have Protz ahead of him as he is away more poised and a lot stronger. He is also a LD which we need badly. Furthermore, I have Jackson very close to Bruce. Add Connors and no matter the order you put them after today’s viewing, the future is bright.
Also agree, I that Colosimo had a very good scrimmage and was noticeable.
Although I agree with McCharles attributes, I thought his decision making with the puck hurt him today.
K. Walton may have been the quickest big man on the ice and also stood out, beauty hands.
Lots of fun ahead.

how is Rory Savage? I have a feeling he will get signed, seems to want to go a different direction from his brothers.

Held his own in scrimmage today. Showed well at times on O side of puck. With physical growth will be a nice player. Conditioning needs to be better for next camp. He can play, talent is evident but far from ready.

Agreed! It looks like Bronos is on the main camp roster. At what point does he forfeit his NCAA eligibility? I thought he was only allowed two days at any type of OHL camp but could be wrong. Anyone know?
The "48 hour" rule is applied to what the CHL teams can cover in terms of financial assistance with players attending camp and maintaining NCAA eligibility. The player can stay longer but has to cover all other expenses associated with the camp visit. The "48 hour" rule can only be used once, if the player returns the following year they would need to cover 100% of the costs associated with the camp visit.

Summary of morning Green/White scrimmage:
Green 4 White 2. Vondras made his Training Camp debut, looked big, calm and in control.
McCallum 1G/1A, Anania 1G for White
Jackson is special on D, Hudson Chitaroni was solid with a nice net drive and beauty passing.
Maverick Hayes played physical but needs to be a bit faster with his feet and puck movement.
Green: Larmand with 2G and was strong entire game (blocked a shot). C. Walton solid on D. Riley Pope 1G. Kocha Delic 1G and best Green forward. Protz belongs.

Summary of afternoon scrimmage, Green Team 4- Blue Team 3.
Delic was buzzing all over the ice, can’t believe this kid hasn’t been drafted by an NHL team. Delic has been best player on the ice the first two days of Main Camp. All the vets came to play so this game was more intense and physical. All vets played really well, Konyen’s best outing with at least 1G and 1a.
Ryan Pryce is an 04 big solid D who has gotten better each time out.
Also, Rory Savage has improved each time out and is showing more comfort and skill. The kid can play. Anticipate play exceptionally well and showed improvement in DZ against stronger competition than Orientation Camp. Will be a great 18 year old D.
Brehmer is an intriguing prospect, his skating needs to be more fluid so you tell yourself that he doesn’t belong, but this kid never stops those feet and never stops hounding pucks. He is also big and physical, Wolves fans would luv his blue collar approach. He has great vision and distributes the puck at a high level.
Vondras and all goalies very good all week. I can’t recall a time where the Wolves had so much goalie depth.
Lastly, Musty can shoot the puck! In case you forgot. He was elite today.

Thanks for the updates. Can't make the Blue/White but how does Toure look so far?

A few quick notes from 1st period:

-Jayden Connors is very impressive. He's gonna be a good one.
-Chromiak looks leaner and quicker out there.
-Ryan Pryce looks pretty solid. Made some nice defensive plays.
-Protz very calm and poised with the puck.
-Yearwood has an extra step and looks faster. Could see a breakout year from him.
-Brehmer and DiGiantammaso both made some nice plays. Want to watch them a bit closer.
