I suspect a lot of this is Gallant wanting to set the tone for the season. Reaves is a fourth liner and the Subban hit wasn’t so egregious.

I want to give Gallant credit for everything but I’d bet this has little to do with him. This veteran group was embarrassed last season. They don’t want to be looked at as p***yes forever.

Nils was fine in this game other than getting burned on a rush last period and gloving down a puck and basically pushing it right to a Devil in the 1st.
