Stützle, feel like he has the ability to beat you in more ways than Zegras.

Very close tho, could go either way so i just compared them if they both reached their full potential.

Explain a comment like this. What about Stu's game makes him more suited to 10 years ago?

Also, Stu is one of the better skaters in the league. Is Zegras a top 10 skater? I don't see that. I see their skating as being pretty equal with Stu having better high end spend, Z having better edging/control.

I seriously have no idea where some people pull their takes from... Well, actually I have an idea :sarcasm:

Tim Stutzle is exactly among the NHL poster boys of today's game.

See I don’t necessarily agree with this…. Zegras might be 1 of the hardest players 1 on 1 to defend.

He’s got top notch stick handles, he’s got amazing vision, and the ability to shoot or pass from any position. He has that ability to slide off hits, and the puck seems to stick with him through traffic.

Not to say stutzle isn’t good at any of this stuff but I feel like zegras is being underrated in that post. He’s def got more weapons than stutzle, but I think stutzle has better weapons.

That's just not true. None of it - except the statement that Stutzle has better weapons. People haven't seen Stutzle play enough, obviously. This is not a dig at Zegras either, he's quite good, but this is getting silly.

A whose is who of top 6 talent, like if an ahl had those guys in their top 6 I like their chances of being a playoff team

He did play with Rakell comtois and very sparingly Terry at times
Second thread in 2 days you keep posting false info. You know we are able to look this stuff up right? :joker:

You lost all credibility right at the start of your post, impressive. Zegras is absolutely one of the most difficult players to defend.

This is all absolutely true. The only silly thing about the post you quoted is your response to it.

Ah yes, I’m sure people have seen Zegras play way more than Stutzle considering he’s played 30 less NHL games on a California team. Very intelligent comment

8 months away from being 21.
Looks like your one of only a couple that thinks Zegras is a better skater.
Well luckily for Ottawa fans my opinion doesnt mean much

Doesnt mean I still cant hold that opinion, though. And I havent touted it as some reason to shit on Stuetzle either, so since Im not being negative nor inflammatory about it idt its wrong for me to think that

It was in response to the poster disagreeing that Stutzle could beat you in more ways. Maybe it's your reading comprehension - or did you just want to fire off a snarky comment as quick as you could? It's actually funny, I knew someone would rush to read my post and make that comment. There was no question about it. I was gonna go back and reference the original post, but then I thought, let's see who cant wait to be the keyboard hero and get their 'look at me' comment in there. Good job ohcomeonref, you win.

Lol, I can take digs at my own team - it's not like Ottawa is the 'must see' team in the East.

The only funny thing here is you knowingly wrote a comment that was unclear, un-founded, and plain wrong then try to claim I'm the one with the problem.

You just didn't bother to read the context. Here it is, as you appear to be too lazy to scroll up.

He might be faster and by a large margin, but I would definitely argue Zegras is pretty incredible with his edgework and stability on his skates. Its half joking but Stuetzle spends about a quarter of a game on his ass sometimes lol

Stutzle needs to get stronger on his skates but his skating isn't just about speed. He has a good top gear and gets there quickly but his ability to cut past defenders at top speed is McDavidesque though not as good. His ability to pivot in tight spaces and escape pressure is also among the best in the league. He is great on his edges and he is a upper echelon skater. If you think all things considered Zegres is a stronger skater, fine but I disagree. I don't understand how you can say it's clear though or even a separating factor.

I didnt say it was clear nor a separating factor. The separating factor for me is I think he can do more in the space hes given with all of his tools, not just skating.

Also I only ever said I feel confident or that 'im pretty sure'. Maybe those came across as me claiming I know so but really was just me trying to get across the fact that I believe so and maybe watching next year will reveal my incorrect assumptions (if they are in fact incorrect). I only get the chance to watch both teams about 10ish times a year

Not sure exactly what your trying to prove... you said something i disagreed with it.

And you think thats like a pat on the back that someone disagreed with you? Or somehow that makes me a keyboard hero?

Its a discussion forum, were discussing.... but i guess if you have an opinion of your own to share your a keyboard warrior.

And actually i agreed with it 50%... i think stutzles best weapons are better than zegras... i just think zegras has a lot more weapons in his arsenal. I watch plenty of stutzle... but my guess is you prob saw a couple Lacross moves and assumed thats all zegras does... and formed your opinion.

You have no idea how much hockey I watch. I've watched plenty of Zegras and he doesn't compare with Stutzle's skillset IMO.

I couldn't conceivably care less if someone disagrees with me. Couldn't care less. I called out the other guy for not reading before typing, but got over that quite quickly.

Good for Anaheim if they think Zegras is on the same level as Stutzle. Happy for you guys.

Threads like this turn so annoying.
It's essentially a bunch of posters who have seen one player way more than the other. I don't think I'd believe anyone in here that says they have seen 50+ games of both players.

Stützle can stick handle hiimSelf out of a phone booth with 3 guys in it, it’s crazy.
Skating for Stützle is better ,way more physical.

Theyre both incredible talents and I enjoy watching both when they dont play New Jersey
Its the difference of splitting hairs. But a choice has to be made. Maybe Stuetzle can prove me wrong, German prospects have been on the up-and-up in recent years.

This is what you said :

"Zegras is for sure a better skater than Stuetzle. And it wasnt an insult saying Id prefer him 10 years ago, but in terms of projecting these guys totals' later on I need to assume the guy whos game is more tailor-made for open ice is the one whos going to do better, whether by a lot or by a little idk.

But yeah
I feel confident saying Trevor Zegras is a better skater than Tim Stuetzle"

So yes it seemed clear. Some people love to make statements left and right without really knowing but you can't deny things you have already wrote as we have access to it. You gotta stand by your statements or admit that you were wrong/didn't know

Also, Tim's name is not Stuetzle. It is Stützle (or Stutzle if you don't know how/are cutting short on the umlaut)

It's essentially a bunch of posters who have seen one player way more than the other. I don't think I'd believe anyone in here that says they have seen 50+ games of both players.

The problem is always these immature people going with the hyperbole*, it creates animosity. Unfounded statements are annoying too, particularly those that are empirically verifiable

* I mean using hyperbole can be fine as a joke or when it's really "deserved" but some people really abuse it like crazy

I think if people ignore the zegras or stutzle AINEC type comments, there is good discussions to be had.

I think there for sure should have been an even option tho…. As it stands now they are basically 50 50 for the majority of the poll
