Post-Game Talk: Stupendous Stu offsets the broken Hyman

Jones: What did that bring you? Back to me.

Man, I was really hoping to not have to see Max Jones anymore.

Knoblauch's on a really good run these playoffs. Hopefully he doesn't bring in an infinitely worse player than Skinner.

Here is this slimy POS purposely throwing an elbow at mcDavid after Ghost Roberstson scores. If that is Evander Kane, he gets 2-4 minutes 100%

Huge loss losing Hyman for rest of playoffs. Brutal news.

eff you Marchment you POS
Big loss but time to move on. The Oilers have tons of good players, a couple of generational players and a winning system. I know it's cliche but next man up, the Oilers have had two top 6 players as healthy scratches most of the playoffs so the depth is there to somewhat offset the loss of Hyman in a goal scoring sense. Terrible for Zach though, I don't think there's anybody that wants to win more than him but he'll be there with the team so they can use this as a rallying cry.

Ok that’s actually a super cool collection 😂
its not even half of it.

These "junk" players is a great cheap way to get authentic on ice jerseys, which are way different than the retail ones you buy at the store. Higher quality and better material.

Each one of those pictured with the exception of the Ceci one i bought for under 120 dollars on Ebay or MeiGray. The Codi Ceci was from the NHL charity auctions and it was a game worn and autographed from a battle of alberta game in 2023 and the Nygard Reverse Retro, which is an extremely rare jersey.

No.. people coming into threads making bold claims with zero info or telling us how they know is not right regardless if he was right . How are we supposed to know if his info is solid or who he even is? Always wait for official confirmation. Sucks Hyman must be pissed

Lol. And people wonder why we generally keep things to ourselves. Exhibit A. It’s just not worth the grief.

I was devastated for Zach when I got the news last night, just a tremendous person and phenomenal player. Was pretty difficult to celebrate the win, honestly it felt like we lost the game.

Not selling alcohol in the building back in the 80’s kept that place subdued. Outside writers called the coliseum the mausoleum. It was a much different atmosphere in that building by the time the team returned to the playoffs in the late 90’s once the booze was flowing.
Not my experience a lot of the time. My family were involved in Construction of the Edmonton Coliseum. So that we had all the specs, blueprints etc. The building contained "sound dampening" and was designed that way to absorb sound. The thought at the time was this would make for better acoustics and less shake reverb kind of rattle in concerts, and to some extent it worked, and top concerts were recorded here with that in mind for instance Yes 9012Live. The building had better acoustics than most comparable arenas. Nassau Coliseum, same design same acoustics also saw profile recordings there for instance in 88 Tour Pink Floyd recorded a live album and DVD from there. The buildings were popular with sound engineers. Similar design as well to Pacific Coliseum and he Former Fabulous Forum in LA.

The building sounded fan quiet, but a lot of that was due to the sound dampening qualities of the build.

In anycase game 7 in 87 it was absolute bedlam, I was there. When Anderson scored the 3-1 goal I've never heard anything like it. Till 97 and the Oilers comeback game and winning in OT. The crowd stomping and hollering and jumping up and down the building felt like shaking.

As for booze a lot of the time people would be predrinking in such places as the Forum Inn across the street. We were there in 85 for the cup winning game and had tickets to game, meal and predrinks as a package at the Inn. Was 99bucks. Great fun and included several Oilers stopping in to what was a closed pregame party. never forget it. Fuhr even had some drinks hours pregame. Those were different times thats for sure. I'm like "Don't buy him drinks are you people crazy" He's got a game to play and a cup to win.

Absolute clinic playoff game. Goaltending enables team to withstand a heavy first period push. Clutch performers combine to get the first goal. Complete team defending effort to fully and completely stifle opposition for forty minutes. A couple players who often get some rough rides leading the way with Nugent Hopkins, Skinner, and Bouchard stepping up for elite series in winning time. Bouchard's two way game has been superlative adding team high 4:17 PK TOI his playoff performance is tracking with all time elites.

Not a clean stat but this team had only 6 giveaways. They are dialled in with their game and it's been beautiful to watch aggressive neutral zone play cut the ice in half with their pressure, smart, disciplined forward backtrack and defending support. Composed, poised puck management throughout the d-corp calming directly their zone exits. All the pieces of successful Cup teams have galvanized.

Unfortunately overcoming adversity adds another massive one with Hyman's likely season ending injury. He reframed his game to be a heat seeking missile this playoffs has been a very important ingredient (along with timely support scoring). It's a huge loss against a clear, purposeful strategy to take the physical game to an anticipated Cup rematch goal against a cheap, dirty Panthers team. Sad for one of this team's leaders and culture drivers.

Absolutely brutal to loose Hyman...

Terrible luck
Its terrible. But he was targeted. Hyman was throwing a ton of the hits, antagonizing some of the Stars with that and Marchment took his number.

It was a deliberate hit. The only unintended thing is Marchment wanted to get all of Hyman and only got half. Sometimes that sort of thing can cause worse result.

I mean look at who Marchment is and all.

Stars have tried to run a lot of our players and have succeeded in some instances. Oilers don't want to tune them in because they don't want to risk penalties. But its a double edged sword not answering to this stuff. I think you have to. There should've been some fights. Dallas have avoided some of those. Don't let them. Just start pounding. Pretty clear Marchment has been running around and the league won't address it so somebody has to.

I know Nurse thinks its cute to make facial expressions back and forth and say "I'm not taking any bait but its time to drop em.

I don't see the point in burning them out when we have a proven top six forward waiting in the wings.

Skinner doesn't even have to play in the top six. He showed this year that he can produce from anywhere in the lineup. I think people are underestimating how big of a hit losing Hyman/Brown is to our depth scoring and Jones, Ryan or a 7th defenceman aren't going to help.

Well, we just lost 10 playoff goals from our roster over 2 games, so yeah, its a pretty huge loss. The only way Skinner doesn't come into the game is if they go 11-7. I know Knobs hates him and all that, but jesus man, we need some secondary scoring help, really, really, REALLY badly now.
