Post-Game Talk: Stupendous Stu offsets the broken Hyman

Losing Hyman sucks. Hopefully it galvanizes the group.

No matter what you think of Arvidsson (and to some extent Skinner), it sure is nice that they have proven NHL players coming into the lineup to fill these holes. I feel like we'll see Ekholm in next game and 11-7. Arvidsson (and Brown when he returns) are going to have to bring it.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I left the building last night, and it's even the same thing myself. In any other year I would have been on top of the world, don't think I'll get there again until win 16.
That is how I am this year

When you lose game 7 in a cup finals, it doesn't mean much to me unless we get back and actually win it. That's how I am as a fan after that. I don't care about the journey lol. I cannot enjoy any of this unless it results in a cup win. Last year I was more mellow.

It's that or a insane heartbreak two years in a row.

The players are like this too. They are more business this year.

Really hope they can win the next one to avoid more injuries, wear/tear, etc. I’d give Skinner another luck. Likely will need him next round, and would be good to have him at game speed already.

Walking out of the building the last 2 games has been interesting. Fans are happy but not giddy. Could be that the we had enough opportunities to cheer during the game or that the games were too early for any pre-drinking but mostly I think it shows that the fans, like the team, realize these are just wins 10 and 11.
I'm not at the games but I find the reactions odd today. used to go to the SC playoff games in 80s and then 97,98 and so on. Todays crowd seems more involved in the dramatic reactions to officiating, to the team being jobbed, to a mental concept of that. Of Lucy yanking the football away. Its just different today and a zeitgeist that for sure wasn't part of the 80's. Back then it was bedlam and expectation of winning it all. Today seems like the fanbase is conditioned for shoe drops or something bad happening. I wonder if Decade of doom and all that just infused something in us. That we don't detect as much but others would.

Last night I was gobsmacked how many times, and how much of the fans attention was booing non calls or silly chants. Glad the fans captured the moments at times, like the end. "Why not sing we want the cup" let the joy flow once in awhile. not just for goals. Giddy is fine. Allow the giddy, party like its the 80's.

Well with the official news that Hyman is out and getting surgery, my guess is a broken wrist (and what others on here have also said) which really really sucks.

I hope it's somehow on the less severe end of a broken wrist. Completely different sport, and pure hope from me, but Lance Stroll broke his wrist two weeks before the 2023 F1 season started and was able to race in the opener. They put pins in his wrist and then he did intense rehab for the two weeks and it was okay enough for him to drive, and controlling an F1 car would definitely put a lot of strain on that broken wrist (though he can't get hit by other players either). Again, I doubt we see Hyman, but if there's a bit of a gap before the Finals start (assuming the Oilers can make it there, knock on wood) maybe there's a slim chance we could see him in the back half of the series.

Losing Hyman actually physically hurt the soul today, almost like a close friend being hospitalized

But Jeff Skinner is ready. Secret video of him finding out he's very likely returning to the playoffs:

The fact that Knoblauch didn't want to disclose whether it was wrist or shoulder tells me they still believe there's an outside chance he could come back.

Cue the Lloyd Christmas memes lol
