Who wants a trophy named after Deer piss?

Molson = 🤮
LOL

I was joking that maybe Matthews was the problem, indirectly maybe he was part of the problem, perhaps the team was deferring too much to Matty on the PP, he has the best shot and the goal is to score...soooo perhaps it was a case of being too predictable on the PP?

He's been part of the problem this year. Whatever the injury is, it's affected his shot... and he's been ineffective, but they keep trying to go to him.

I was told Marner has a weak shot, slow skater and does not adhere to an off season workout/nutrition program and is the ill's of everything Leafy, the graphic must have been wrong.
That’s old news, the special insight crew has now moved on to assists being worthless

They’re going to be the death of this board. You can already see the stupidity driving people away.

Marnerites and there echo chamber view points are far more likely ruin this place, can’t wait till he’s playing elsewhere and hopefully taking his disciples with him………

I don't know who told you that. Who called Marner a slow skater?
Weak shot? Yes.
Offseason workout/nutrition? No idea.

The problem with Marner is his contract demands more than anything. Is it worth paying him 12M+ for a player who's not physical, scared of physical contact, not a strong threat to score and easily intimidated? My answer to that is no.

I think the Leafs would do better going with two 6M+ (or McDavid if he reaches UFA) players that offer more scoring throughout the lineup. Especially since Matthews showed us last season his production didn't drop even with extended periods without Marner.

Goes to show what this team is capable of when there head space is right

No Matthews but instead of differing to him they took it upon themselves to get the win and our best players played like it

Goaltending was A+, Marner looked like the best RW in the game, special teams turned up, all our best stood up

Proud of that performance

In the short term, it helps a team to adopt a pack mentality and just be in the position to be mission focused, vs looking to a lead dog that’s struggling. Seems to be the dynamic the past 3 games Matthews has missed vs Boston going back to last year.

They seem to want the responsibility for winning games when Matthews isn't there to defer to

They need to think like that when Matthew's is playing, we'd be miles more dangerous

The gold standard is your best player leading the charge but the troops are firing on all cylinders too. So like last night's effort, but Matthews is ahead of the pack.

But how many 0f those winning records are lower than the team avg of 358-189-73? So the team is below avg when certain players are missing.
So the overall team average is 1.27 points per game.

Without JT it's 1.38
Without Mo it's 1.36
Without Matty it's 1.30

All better records without them.

Without Willy it's 1.07
Without Mitch its 1.07

Virtually identical below average records with either of those two missing.

So which "one of them" is the obvious one we need?

He can lead but the other guys need to take responsibility to, there to good to just be side kicks

I was thinking the same thing. What does this look like? I assume we keep the JT line together. How do we line-up the other six?

Knies Matthews Robertson
Pacioretty Tavares Nylander
McMann Domi Marner

Lorentz Kampf Holmberg Reaves Jarnkrok Dewar...Minten

I am not sure I have the best top nine configuration there. I think if we keep the three duos together, then maybe we swap McMann and Robertson and I am not sure I like that either. Obviously we have to move out some fourth liners soon.
No clue. I feel like you can't break up that Tavares line and I think that line could be even better if we have Matthews and Marner on seperate lines and get some easier matchups potentially. If we end up keeping Jarnkrok somehow then I could see him on a line with Domi and Matthews if we could get a C to play with Marner and Knies. Maybe Minten could be that guy soon.

Domi-Matthews-Jarnkrok
Knies-Minten/?-Marner
Patches-Tavares-Nylander

I don't hate those lines but now you got McMann, Robertson and Holmberg possibly not playing even though they all haven't been great this season. I'll assume that we move Jarnkrok and 1 of Robertson and McMann play where Jarnkrok is.

I don’t even know how you got your numbers but yeah I think William is worth more than Marner but not much more. William at 11.5, as I have said all along Mitch at 11.

How’d you come up with the math cause I added overtime losses with losses and Willy edges Marner by a slim margin

Two points for a win, one for an OT or SO loss, same as the NHL does it.

For Willy:
(46×2+12)/(46+39+12) = 104/97 = 1.072

For Mitch:
(20×2+5)/(20+17+5) = 45/42 = 1.071
