Player Discussion Stuart Skinner

The Skinner addiction from this organization is nearing the point of deluding themselves into self destruction. Might already be there.

Even if they like him, at what point is enough enough and change is needed? Anyone here ever have that employee or coworker that is a good person, and people like, and you want to keep giving them chances, but just can't get it done? That's what he is to this organization now.

We get it. Local. Young. Almost won it once. But for f*** sakes, facts are facts here.

That 3-0 goal that ended any hopes of winning game 6 should be enough to make them want to find another goalie.

It wasn’t technical either. That was 1000% a lack of focus. He wasn’t paying attention then got stuck when the puck floated in. Like he does.

That’s the biggest tell there that he’s got to go. If there were focus and work ethic concerns in any other position this key that player would get walked. He just gets to float along.

I don’t know how many times he or others saw he lost focus or wasn’t competing this playoff? That isn’t acceptable.

I’m not even sure how likeable a guy he is. This is a guy that has a habit of taking no public accountability for his poor performances, insisting he has personally played well in bad games. All while having no issue with saying the team was bad and needs to be better and referring to team as “they” instead of “we”.

I have a hard time believing any character like this is popular with any group he’s associated with.

If cats have 9 lives, Skinner has 99.

Even when Pickard is 7-1 with comparable GAA/save % (if not a bit better in reg season and playoffs), Skinner is somehow always given a chance to be #1 starter over and over again.

Name one other goalie in playoff history that had a stat line of 15 GP, let in 5+ goals 5 times, 4 goals once, and got pulled twice including letting in 3 goals and pulled after first period. And how many of those games did he let in 2 or more in the first period? Had to be a lot. Did goalies in the high scoring 80s do this bad? It's a much lower scoring era than 40 years ago.

Basically half his games were total junk and still got handed the keys to the last game.
