terrible goalie. it's an atrocity that he is anywhere near the net in a cup final
He ends up back in Edmonton lolI loved the story, and the guy seems pretty great, but he has no future in Edmonton. I wish him the best wherever he ends up
You really read far too much into press conferences. I never watch them because the team always says the same thing. Lots of talk prior to game 6 about how they "hadn't played their best game yet" as if they were waiting for some magic to happen that just never came. This has to be posted in this and the other thread. People need to know what machinations are going on.
The STu Skinner presser post game is must watch. Its maddening really. This guy multiple times in the interview states the team was inconsistent, but that Skinner was OK with his own game, felt he was consistent, in his bubble, and the inference that he was on his game.
McD and Drai etc NEVER throw this guy under the bus and he just did that (again) to the team. His presser was the typical love affair with the media where they were messaging leading edge questions that Skinner is only removed from Bobroski on experience. Several soft questions on that allowing Skinner to expand how he's going to try to pick Bobos brain and so that he can become him. It was actually bizarre.
The media are setting the table, again, for Skinner to come back and now the story is years hence "the oilers will be sorry" this actually stated in telecast, I think it was Friedman who hates this club, if they move on from Skinner. The trumped story is that Skinner is going to be the next one. That only experience separates that.
No mention at all that Bobo and other goalies in NHL are elite because they have outstanding skillsets, skating, movement, flexibility none of which Skinner has.
The poster above mentioned it and I'll raise the point to that I was saying years ago Skinner cannot appreciably improve as a goalie because he does not have any of the requisite skillsets or athleticism to be a premium NHL goalie. The physical specimen isn't changing, you don't develop cat flexibility at his age, you develop it earlier, you don't become an athlete overnight, its a lifetime endeavor.
We're being sent up for a Skinner extension.
No I read what the team, media, and telecast are spreading about Skinner and its been a constant misinformation campaign about his ability, about his worth, and a non stop love affair the media have with this player. No less than Barkov and Bennett are Ekblad are saying McD and Drai are the best players they've ever played against. The media are throwing those players hardball questions and the usual rumbling about leaderership and vaulting Skinner as the next Bobo. You should listen to some of the stuff being said. Its being shaped for a Skinner return. You really read far too much into press conferences. I never watch them because the team always says the same thing. People acting like the Panthers weren't the far, far superior team in this series and that Skinner was the only reason this team lost (never mind that he was completely absent in game 5). I get it, it's frustrating to lose to that team two years in a row and if we're being honest the series was never that close.
I don't particularly care what the Oilers do with Skinner whether they keep him or not. Was he good enough? No, he wasn't. But I challenge anyone on this forum to find someone who was consistently good throughout this series.
I don't care what the opponents say, nor do I care what our worthless media says. You think the Panthers going to kick dirt on us after we lost the series to them again? We sucked to a man. We were no match for Florida, period. Never more evident than in a crucial game 5 where Skinner was put on the bench and the team served up a laugher of an effort that essentially lost them the Cup. Put in Pickard last night, the result doesn't change. No I read what the team, media, and telecast are spreading about Skinner and its been a constant misinformation campaign about his ability, about his worth, and a non stop love affair the media have with this player. If you need more Skinner was awful in the series throughout yet the team played him in the elimination game.
Pickard 7-1, every stat better, can play the puck, but they go with Skinner who finishes the playoffs 7W 8L and would've been 7W 9L but Pickard saved the game 4.
For the last three years my only HFBoards contributions have been to call out this scrub goalie Stuart Skinner for what he is. Countless times Oil fans have come to his defense. Search my post history. I said it three years ago I'll say it again the Oilers will never win the Cup as long as they keep this bum. He can't skate, he can't read plays, he overplays situations leaving the net empty, he gives up soft team deflating goals and is overall the exact opposite of a playoff money goalie who elevates his play when the stakes are high. He is one (if not the) of the worst playoff goalies of all time and everyone associated with him keeping his job should be fired. If he continues to play for the Oilers you guys can write next season off right now.
Ever since I first saw him play I've been expecting him to fail in the most spectacular way possible, flopping around like a fish, staring at the sky. The only surprise has been to see so many Oilers staff and fans support him through his failures for no reason whatsoever. The man accepts no responsibility and isn't even trying to improve his game. The franchise deserves all of the recent disappointment for allowing this debacle to continue and fester.

Exactly what I said. I'm just going to continue to watch all the games if Shitcan is our starter still next season. There isn't enough Tylenol for that.If Skinner is extended, I'm done with the team, full stop. I won't watch another game. If he is brought back as a backup, or even a 1B, then sure, whatever. But if he is extended as a starter, I'm done.
Stu Skinner wasn't wrong there, he was consistently bad. How many more wasted seasons will it take for the Oilers to move on from him? If anything, this past post season just showed that Skinner is not a playoff goalie. The STu Skinner presser post game is must watch. Its maddening really. Can't say I disagree. heh. Yeah, consistently bad. hahaStu Skinner wasn't wrong there, he was consistently bad. How many more wasted seasons will it take for the Oilers to move on from him? If anything, this past post season just showed that Skinner is not a playoff goalie.
Guess you aren't old enough to remember Grant Fuhr's interviews. He 'd make Skinner look like an excited child. I just want someone to get the job done on the ice, I could care less how they are in interviews.I hate his interviews because he's just so ho-hum about everything. No passion whatsoever.
high ceiling compared to who? he can't move left to right and craters without perfect play in front of himHigh ceiling, but the lowest floor of any goalie to ever see this much action in the postseason. In history.
