There's something to be said for generating a lot of volume. It's not nothing.

But they're up against a goalie that stops everything he has a chance at.

This is very true. A mediocre goalie will eventually have an easy one slip through. This is why Carolina is so good during the regular season. They shoot the puck from everywhere, even bellow the goal line. And it works during the RS because most teams don't have elite goalies, and they just shoot insane ammounts.

Every other Canes goal has been a tip or a broken play.

Guentzel has been really good for them and they did the right thing to go for it with all their FAs coming up. They didn't even give up any of their top 5 prospects. They are a very good team but they just can't seem to beat the Rangers who are their kryptonite.
