I would rather see people in the NAT wearing OSU gear cheering for the CBJ, then people wearing Pens, Rangers, Hawks, etc gear in those seats cheering for their teams!

Eh.. I give a bit of leniency towards these fans. Some might not have Jackets gear, be sort of new to the sport, etc..

I started off going to games in 2010-2011 when I could with my dad who was a big fan. He started to get me interested in #cbj hockey. I just wore his extra jerseys he had "to help support the team". Started to become invested/heavy jackets fan in 2013 with the near playoffs run. That's when I started to collect Jackets gear.

The last couple of years- I've helped get a couple people interested in hockey who haven't ever cared/been to a game.. 1. one of my best friends- Took him along for free a couple times, eventually he found a fiance who was a huge hockey fan that even further sparked his interested. Now I go with them to at least 3 games a year on top of my season tickets.

I'm now starting to get my girlfriend interested in Blue Jacket's hockey, which I never foreseen happening.

Maybe these OSU gear wearing fans could become big Blue Jacket's fans. Help support/encourage fan growth.

Thats when you know you can truly commit. I took my girlfriend to her first ever hockey game in 2013. She was mehhh on it, but now she watches every game with me.

We are getting married next October.

I suppose. I just think of that as repping Columbus in general somehow. Eventually they'll come around.

I mean, keep in mind that Ohio State athletics does kind of have a 110-year head start. :)

Understood. But I've yet to see any 110 year old fans at either sporting venues.

I wear my OHIO bobcats hockey jerseys to CBJ games regularly. I credit 80s Bird Arena with chicken wire "glass" for my hockey fanship.

really? For an organization that needs butts in seats who gives a thought to what the fandom is wearing. Come one come all, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Athens to Toledo.. West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana. We want as many fans to celebrate this team as possible. If you get a jersey hat or t shirt all the better eh?

Eh, I'd rather see scarlet & gray than Pens and Blackhawks unis. Some people just don't have any CBJ gear so they wear other sports stuff. During the world series you'd see a lot of people with Cavs jerseys in the Indians crowd.

With respect Nordique...

This OSU/CBJ thing has been an issue for 17 years and frankly stupid......

Columbus will always love the Buckeyes and many new CBJ fans may not have the money to buy CBJ gear and tickets....

In my opinion it's time to bury the OSU/CBJ competition.... we love both and both love us.....

Nuff said..

Yeah lol. What a major letdown. I could understand if it was OSU football coverage. But hardly anybody gives a crap about the OSU Bball team.

In the early days when 1460 the fan had the games, the CBJ was preempted by OSU WOMEN'S basketball. The contract 1460 signed with OSU stipulated that women get the same coverage as the men's team. That's why the 1460 teamed up with CD101 for a while to broadcast the CBJ games if there was a conflict

I think what the OP is also saying that psychologically, the city of Columbus has been under the thumb of Ohio State almost forever. Ohio State was the dominate force in the city and no one, not even the mayor or city council could stand up to them. But Columbus just got to big and when it came time to get a sports team other than the Buckeyes, OSU did everything they could to prevent that including not cooperating with the city on building one arena and then trying to sabotage the city's effort to construct its own. Does it bother me to see OSU gear at the CBJ games? No, but it does make sense to wear clothes that match the team you're cheering for.

110-year head start, folks. The Maple Leafs are very touchy about teams anywhere near Toronto that they don't own either, for example.

I always thought people were dumb to wear their Buckeye gear when Detroit was in town. The red just amplified all of the Wings jerseys. This was back in the early 2000s and continues to this day!

Agree to the notion of come one, come all, wearing whatever suits you. Attend enough Jacket games and you'll get hooked and buy some attire.

I love Ohio's hockey jerseys, I also work at Bird arena.

Cool. My college roommate was business manager at bird for the club team and got me into hockey. After college, he worked marketing for Adirondack Red Wings when Doug Maclean was there. Then did stint in marketing for Blackhawks. So, kind of fun visiting him in Glen Falls and Chicago back then.

Uh. No. We Tolerate OSU. Many of us use CBJ to escape the OSU ****. Not everyone in Columbus went to OSU and wants them shoved down our throats. I'm glad the CBJ stopped the pandering to OSU fans and no longer do things like play hang on sloopy at CBJ games. I really don't care what people wear to games, I'm not walking around paying any attention to other people's attire.

I wore a CBJ hoodie to the Ohio State Rose Bowl Pep Rally in 2009 because it was colder than I expected and I didn't have an OSU jacket or sweatshirt. None one complained. Instead, I heard a lot of "Go Jackets!"

I noticed during the game last night a lot of the fans did have OSU clothing, but it was a sell-out. It's great that there's so many people supporting the team.

I love having them on CD102.5. It's the closest thing we have to a true COLUMBUS radio station that's not sucking at the teet of Ohio State.

Umm.... A PSA to those that, most likely, don't wear OSU colors to a game? Seems a bit like a waste of effort. Try that silly write in thing in the Dispatch that they print on Sundays or whatever.

I'm really not in a hurry to ***** about nothing. I'm not really sure if this is better or worse than *****ing about the chilli chant.

Seriously, I love the attendance up tick, but go spend a buck on a CBJ hat or sweatshirt, and leave the Scarlet and Gray gear at home. Support the franchise, support the NHL, wear CBJ gear.

I was thinking of you Nordique last night when I wore my Blue Jackets pullover that my daughter got me, but my OSU Jacket because I'm a huge Buckeye fan, then I looked at my kids and my Daughter was sporting a Nash 3rd Jersey that we picked up for 16.99 after he was traded, my two sons both had OSU stuff on. Then I looked around us every other person had either a Blue Jackets jersey (sweater) or something OSU. I think this is just something that you are going to have to live with.

Now the 4 seats we were sitting in cost $500., and parking was $20., and the chili cheese fries and beers was $75., my boys both had a couple more beers each for 40., more so what I am trying to say is who gives a **** what people are wearing..really.

Yep, that was for my December birthday.. and seeing how we won 12 in a row i can honestly say that I am not likely to forget it eh?

The Canadiens (Habs) were the team when I was a kid. Kenny Dryden in net Guy LaFleur scoring goals.. they were the schitt.
