Seriously, I love the attendance up tick, but go spend a buck on a CBJ hat or sweatshirt, and leave the Scarlet and Gray gear at home. Support the franchise, support the NHL, wear CBJ gear.

It's ok to wear the city pride. In Cleveland you see Browns and Indians and cavs and Browns etc

Very much agree.

Meh...I'm not an OSU fan, but kind of an early reaction thread. This team still hasn't won anything yet. Fans will come around. Barely 3 weeks ago, those seats at NW arena were empty. At least they weren't wearing Pens gear.

However, it was a buzzkill jumping in my car and all excited after leaving Nationwide to hear the postgame show. I flipped on 97.1 and they're covering a Buckeye's basketball game. Spent a few minutes scanning FM for the postgame show. Really doubt there's another major league team that has to be bumped for college sports.

Yeah lol. What a major letdown. I could understand if it was OSU football coverage. But hardly anybody gives a crap about the OSU Bball team.

Does it look out of place? Yes, but worse are all of the knock off Pens and Hawks jerseys in the Arena every game night.

BTW the team is getting some love from up the street.

Guys? Can we please skip past the whole "jealous of that other team" phase and just enjoy what we have?

You are reading more into my post than there is.

I'm not jealous or taking a shot in any way at OSU. I just want fans to show some pride in the CBJ when at a CBJ game. Buy a sweatshirt and wear it to the game. If you can afford tickets and outrageous food/beer prices, you can afford to stop at Meijer/Walmart and grab a $20 sweatshirt.

As long as those fans in scarlet and gray are cheering for the Jackets, I'm cool with it. Perhaps it's their first Jackets game, and they want to show that they support the home team, but all they have is Buckeye gear. If they attend a game like last night's, I bet they'll stop off at the team store and get some swag - hard not to support a winner!

When I lived in Columbus, I would just wear my CBJ gear to OSU watching parties. I would get all sorts of comments. It reminds me of another aspect of life in America where hypocracy is permitted and expected from certain factions, but taboo for others.

Maybe it's just me being from Cleveland, but I see this as a non-issue.

Quite frankly, the whole "OSU fans vs. Columbus pro teams fans" thing baffles me. I'm a fan of the Jackets, Buckeyes, Clippers, Crew, Machine, and Aviators (they haven't officially folded yet) and don't see a conflict between any of them.

As far as the lack of a postgame show, Columbus radio doesn't seem good at this, even for Buckeye football. When the Buckeyes won the national title, 97.1 went to ESPN Radio following the network postgame. A championship calls for gloating on a local post-game call-in show until at least the next day's morning drive show starts.

I guess the signal wasn't strong enough in the parking garage for my car to pickup, but I did find it about 10 minutes later once I was on I71N, but I think I missed some post-game interviews.

I don't know. Not a huge deal, I suppose. Me? I tend to believe that you dress to support the festive occasion and add to the theme and comraderie. If an OSU game or party, I wear my scarlet and gray. If a Jackets game or party, I wear one of my jerseys or blue. It's no different than the holidays. I don't wear a Halloween costume to a Christmas Party.

It really has been a more tOSU organization vs CBJ organization since the announcement of the franchise than within the fans. Doesn't need to be rehashed, but tOSU has been overly protective of their brand. I think the relationship's mostly improved since Gordon Gee's left, although there was awkward National Championship Celebration on NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus and Urban Meyer soliciting recruits by telling them there was no professional sports in Columbus.

The only thing with the OSU fans is I think it's a self-image thing. They want to associate with a winner and still aren't fully buying that CBJ are for real. If the CBJ would have lost yesterday, they save face by walking out the arena saying "yeah..but my Bucks are in the playoffs." When the CBJ win a playoff round or two, there will be less OSU gear.

It doesn't matter on HFboards anyway...just preaching to the choir. People are filling up seats in NWA again, why care what they are wearing if they're cheering for the home team?

Cincinnati, Oh
It was at its worst when we played Detroit in the 09 playoffs and goobers wore their red Ohio State gear to root on the Blue Jackets against a team dressed in red called the Red Wings. I guess it's better than not having those people in the building, but OSU is so ingrained in people's live for so long I honestly think don't even think about what they're wearing. There's people in Columbus who don't own clothes that don't have OSU logos on them.

This. And stop telling people how to dress, OP.

I suppose. I just think of that as repping Columbus in general somehow. Eventually they'll come around.

I mean, keep in mind that Ohio State athletics does kind of have a 110-year head start. :)
