Injury Report: Stolarz Stretchered Out Of SBA During Game 1

Berube calling this out as an elbow was as important decision. He needs to take the arrows for his team. He needs to be the release valve in some public fashion even if he knows it might not change the outcome (though it WILL be in the leagues and refs heads).

He showed some anger in the post-game interview but remained composed in a difficult situation. The fact that Bennett took the 5th illustrates that he, his coach and his team KNOWS what he did can't be explained or defended. That's on them. That's them representing Florida.

Furthermore, if I was watching an NBA game and after the buzzer goes a player tries to hit a player (was it an attempted knee?), goes after another player with a cross check (assuming NBA had stick) as lowlife Matthew Tkachuk did on Marner, would I assume the league would just ignore it?

At what point are the going to make hockey a sport which is G rated (or at least PG) so that the entire family can watch the games without a dad saying, "look son, I know you support your team and look up to some of these (bad decision kid) but I don't want you to go through life being a sore loser and dirtbag like M Tkachuk".

The more you watch the sport the more wish you hadn't grown up on it watching games with your dad so you wouldn't have to see the circus come to town every playoffs as an annual tradition. Perhaps more and more dads WON'T be watching the NHL with their sons for the aforementioned reasons...

I hope you're wrong and the hit didn't just give him vertigo which can make you puke.

Vertigo, which is a sensation of spinning or dizziness, can occur after a hit to the head due to various factors, including damage to the vestibular system, which controls balance, or other neurological issues. Vertigo can often cause nausea and vomiting
I've got vertigo and it doesn't go away.

Can´t wait for a statement by the Department of PLAYER SAFETY regarding the play and concussion.
As soon as they figure out how they can spin doctor this to make it Stolarz´s fault, that is.
Bennett for the 2025 Lady Bing Memorial Trophy!

people wanting Reaves blows my mind. He is cooked as a hockey player. Him going after bennett would put us down 5 mins and Bennett is a tough SOB, probably doesn't even leave the game lol. Leafs need to focus on winning and scoring goals. Scoring 5 in game 1 is a good sign, we need more offense.
Safe to say they are not going to dress Reaves.

Totally understand the thirst for blood, but since when did Reaves even serve the goon function effectively?

And the last time we tried the eye-for-an-eye approach, the league launched Kadri into the sun. They'll do it again. It's also probably what Florida is hoping for.

Tough as it is, stay focused on the goal of a win in Game 2. Protect Woll, finish every hit, don't get suckered into the alley where Florida wants this series to go.
The moment you start seeking retribution, is the moment you play perfectly into Florida's hands. That's exactly what they want you to do.

Think in general against both Florida and Ottawa, the Leafs have done a really good job of ignoring a lot of the post-whistle nonsense. That needs to continue being the case.

The answer to this is to drive hard to the net by mandate. If you have a chance to drive hard into the net you must take it.

No need to go out of your way. Just drive when you can.

As much as i hate to admit it, I dont see any suspension on that play.
Interesting, I think it's an easy one given how the NHL rules these.

Illegal play, unnecessary and intentional hit to the head that causes an injury on a defenseless player.

This isn't an accident, isn't normal play and is targeted. It's everything they suspend on and a key area of focus they're trying to remove from the game

I hate players like Bennett. No respect at all for other people on the ice. He doesn't care. And Stolarz was his teammate last year with whom he won the cup with FFS. f*** that guy.
The irony is that it's entirely possible that Bennett signs with the Leafs on July 1.

I think Bennett is a total piece of shit but I think he will be able to sell it as a normal 2 minute interference call. I hope im wrong.

Guys you might crucify me for this but I think this is the shot to the mask earlier. As greasy as Bennett is there is no way that does enough damage on it's own to justify being stretchered out.
I think I agree with this. It was greasy, but not really all that forceful. Sucks for Stolarz, let’s hope he’s ok in general

Seems odd nobody can confirm he went to hospital. Could the first play where he was hit in the head with the puck been a contributing factor?

It's been reported everywhere he went to the hospital for tests.
