Injury Report: Stolarz Stretchered Out Of SBA During Game 1

If Leafs get 2-0 lead, panthers would need to start to play some hockey and shenanigans would diminish greatly in later games.

Leafs can't lose focus here. We need the wins more than we need retrobution
Focus on the game, get the wins.

We all have seen players do worse thing what Bennett did. We can come back to him later in the series or even next year. He's not going anywhere

This is the best team we have had in years. I had to lose sight of things because of one idiot

Sure, but what was Maurice supposed to say if not what he did say? He was in a spot where being prickly and a prick was always the right thing to say. He wants to support his player and not have him be suspended. He said the right thing, the only right thing he could say; "I have no comment, the ref was right there and he didn't see anything wrong"
He blamed the Toronto media and fans for villainizing Bennett, which is clearly a lie...and saying there's no penalty is saying nothing at all, and is simply deception.

As expected to see Stolarz remaining out unfortunately. Hopefully he can return sooner than later, even if it’s just as a backup. Great opportunity for Woll here. Hope we see playoff Woll between the pipes and not Woll from the other night, mind you he was thrown into a very difficult situation.

Beginning of the year that was always the plan. Woll as starter and Stolarz as the back up
We are where we supposed to be. I have confidence in Woll.

On top of that kudos to Brad for getting Murray and keeping him around. This must give Woll a lot of confidence and guidance knowning a vet is behind you. So it must be for the team as well

But as I said earlier, this team will go as far as core4 wants it to go. Even last year, Samsonov give up more than 3 goals than twice.

We often see in the playoffs - if we get a game that is chippy and full of controversial hits, that next game is an extremely tightly called game.

I would expect the refs to be very whistle happy tonight trying to keep a lid on everything. It's not a night where you try and get in any extra licks.

It's helped that they've spent so much of these playoffs in the lead, but they've generally done a really great job of staying clear of that extra crap so far. Need to doubly emphasize that tonight.
Good luck. My concern would be that they try to increase the casualty list. It is part of their game plan. Bet you have at least one elbow tonight that is questionable.

Maurice counts on that mentality.

A healthy Panthers team has Bennett, Marchand and Tkachuk. That's a living monument to playoff rats. I kind of admire that, winning is everything, bend every rule in the book, stop at nothing.

Who can say with certainty how long those guys will be healthy for?

Don’t think Tkachuk is at 100% the way he was moving around.

Woll was horrible in game 1. This is extremely detrimental. Stolarz is arguably the best goalie in the league. Losing him is a major concern. If bennett int handled at some point I can’t support this group

Let's see how Woll does when he's had time to mentally prep and go through his 'starter routine'.
I'd rather beat the Panthers and send them golfing. Payback can come next year or once the deciding game is out of reach for them.

Still think their best effort is to let the refs take care of the whistle to whistle stuff.

The one exception has to be any contact with Joseph Woll. They went after him on two or three different occasions in his short game 1 cameo - that simply cannot go unchecked tonight.

Bingo - in a league that lets those types of players get away with so much more this time of year, they almost feel like cheat codes.

Have to make sure they don't become factors in this series; playing while ahead makes a huge difference.

Leafs nation will blow a gasket if Bennett takes out Woll. I doubt Panthers want to go there, even though it probably guarantees them the series.

Woll has proven that he can play at an elite level in the playoffs for us when he is on his game. Stolarz was playing very well for us, but he also made mistakes against Ottawa.

I am confident that at the very least, Woll can provide a similar level of goaltending for us while Stolarz is recovering.

Really hoping Woll has a solid game to prove the doubters wrong. Its not long ago he stood on his head in the playoffs for us last season. His playoff numbers when starting are ridiculous, his playoff numbers coming in relief are awful.

Dress Reaves for game 2 to absolutely run Bobrosky hard to injure. Take the penalty and send the message we won’t let dirty gutless play go unpunished. The league let this BS happen with an incompetent ex goon be the director of player safety when in fact he is the opposite. We are back to the 1970’s Philadelphia Flyers style of garbage hockey.
I played back in the 1970s garbage hockey era and we are nowhere even remotely close to it .. those were days where we could rub a guys head into glass to finish off a hit ,, fork a guy in front of net and move him where you wanted .. hook a guy all da way down da ice if he was faster than you .. cross checks and facial makeovers were at every stop in play .. no instigator on a fight .. etc etc .. it is a completely different and better game today .. it is a hockey game where skating and skill versus a war game

He came in cold and hasn't played in how long and his opponent is a team that scored 20 goals on Vasy in 5 games.

Stolarz let in some stinkers vs Sens himself.

He came in af the absolute worst time, cold, rusty.

Stolarz in 1/2 the game only was tested on 9 shots and saved 8.

Woll in the same amount of time faced 20 shots.

I have plenty of faith in Woll and think when hes in the zone hes the better of the two.

We are pretty lucky to have them because in Dubas years we'd be in trouble right now. Hell we'd be in trouble if our starters didn't get hurt.

I don't like Maurice because of his tenure here but he's grown as a coach and he's now one of the best.

I just don't like him because I'm a bitter, cynical loser of a man.

Paul Maurice is a narcissistic wind bag who likes to go on meaning of life monologues no one is here for with that smug piece of shit face like “aren’t I a gem”? He’s like an actor playing a coach who’s auditioning for Shakespeare in the Park while admiring himself in the mirror at the same time.

But mostly I hate him for his BS job in Toronto, that exasperated genius frustration he emoted while being a shit coach and the way he carries on like this market owes him.
