great effort. FLA is not going to go down easy. Really nice to get a head start on this series.

Even though it is almost unfathomable to think, you gotta go to FLA with a clear objective to get the sweep. Settle for the split. Do not go into FLA thinking a split is OK. That type of mindset will bring the series home tied.

All gas, no brakes. Foot on their throats. Make them pay.

It's really that simple.

This series is far from over. These guys are the reigning champs for a reason. They will respond, we will have to be ready.

Like Tanny said after game 1, enjoy this win for 5 mins, and get on to the next one.

Carlo and Tanev were built for the crunch time protecting a lead.

They are built for playoff hockey period. Fearless, tough as nails, and willing to do whatever it takes.

I cannot think of a more impactful acquisition to our club than Chris Tanev. It's really a shame that we are only now getting a guy like him on our roster. One could only imagine what could have been had we signed him as a UFA in the summer of 2020

I am in love with the way Tanev plays the game. We need more guys like him TBH

Dubas did a lot of good things but he just never addressed the D and the goaltending was always other team's fodder. Hiring Keefe was also proven in the long run, to be the wrong decision.

Didn’t manage the cap properly so yeah, no money for the D or G. I still do not believe a team can win the cup with the cap allocation the Leafs are still employing, hope I’m wrong, but I doubt it……..

I think people need to give their heads a shake. Matthews isnt scoring yes. But he is being matched up against 2 Selke Finalist in Barkov and Reinhart. He is playing a complete 200ft game every game and not for anything Reinhart and Barkov have been non existent as well. So it goes to show what the Matthews line is doing against them.

I am perfectly fine with the game Matthews is playing. Getting his chances, playing above average defense and for all intensive purposes coming out on top with that matchup. Knies and Marner are still chipping in offensively and playing great with Matthews.

People need to give him a break. It goes to show you the system they are playing. Berube could have shied away from the Barkov matchup. But he didnt. Its working in the Leafs favor. Prepping them for when they head to Florida the next 2 games.

Matthews and his line are doing great. Stay within the system and this team will flourish. Matthews line is going to be the reason we get past Florida if we do. As cancelling out the Barkov line on road and home will pay dividents.

For what he's being paid he needs to do all that AND produce on the scoreboard, I'm sorry. By demanding that kind of salary, and receiving the C, he has by association elected to be the one that needs to set the tone at both ends and that includes putting the puck in the net more consistently.

Give HIM a break? This motherf***er has taken more than his share of breaks since he's come here. How about he gives us a break this time? My expectations are as high as his salary. He almost gets Drai money and he's nowhere near that level of player in the playoffs.

What exactly did the ref see that warranted a imbellishment penalty? Leafs got away with one which is fine, because both teams eill have vad calls imposed upon them……

If you were told before the playoffs that we'd be up 2-0 on the Cup champs in Round 2 and the Core Four had 36 points across 8 games with two of our 6 GWG and two primary assists on two more, you'd have either been ecstatic and/or wouldn't believe that to be something that could happen.

Reminds of the clip from the Panthers Cup run last year, Maurice screaming at his team, "Pound their D, so come game 7 they have nothing let"..

Panthers seem to be doing the same thing, dumping it in, getting their pound of flesh and try to ware down our D-man.

It’s a smart plan, I know every time Ottawa let off the hitting the Leafs took over those games. Having said that the Leafs thus far have been giving it as much as receiving it imo. Impressed with the pressure being put on Seth Jones specifically, he make bad decisions when under physical duress…….

People questioned when Treliving locked him up long term for our Leafs.

Nylander's contribution and dominance is really validating Leafs long-term investment in him.

I don’t like that contract and I think Styles has holes in his game, but he’s delivering when it counts, no one can dispute that……

Florida looked a little dejected at the end there.

I dont think these Leafs are who they thought they were (even Woll isnt the same goalie they faced 2 years ago) and now they have to win 4 out of 5 games to advance.

I think the Leafs looked fresher than them at the end and the older Panthers knowing this is a minimum 6 gamer against a Leafs team that has been pounding them just as hard on the boards might have lost a little bit of heart. ALL of the pressure is on the Panthers now so they will come out flying in game 3. They have strong leaders there but injuries and age are going to be creeping in IMO.

Nylander = 8 years @ $11.5 mil AAV vs. Rantanen = 8 years @ $12.0 mil AAV.

Both Willy and Mikko are validating their new contracts by their playoff impact.

When Willy is performing at McDavid and Draisaitl level there is no issue with his contract for me.

As of today, Bob's goals saved above expected sits at -2.9 in the playoffs. Stolarz is even and Woll a minus .1 in a small sample size. None the less.... if this continues, we are in great shape. A PP goal would really help.
