Post-Game Talk: Stolarz SHUTS OUT the Habs on HNIC -> LEAFS WIN!

I think it is to get a third line scoring and I wouldn't be surprised to see Pacioretty draw in for G1.

Knies Matthews Marner
Pacioretty Tavares Nylander
McMann Domi Robertson
Lorentz Kampf Laughton

... obviously this assumes everyone is healthy. If Kampf can't go then Holmberg or Jarnkrok are in.
McMann isn't the type of player that will 'get the third line going'. We should be thankful that he makes for a great low cost complimentary piece in the top six and he works very well with JT and Willy. That's where we get max value out of him. Put him back.

Chief has done a lot of good things in Toronto so far but personnel isn't one of them.

Hasn't McMann Domi and Robertson actually been a pretty good line when together. I don't love it, but with Domi as 3C I can giving him stronger linemates being a good strategy.

I think Berube (and Tre) doing a good job managing the roster and lineup. We are in position to win the division and we have depth up front. We have six of seven guys who can put the puck in the net, a strong PP and decent PK.

I like out top six on D too and if, by any chance the rumours are true that Hakanpaa is healthy, then I like the depth there too.

I don't think our roster has been this well managed in years, in this era.

Every time TOR plays MTL, MTL fails to impress me.

Outshot 35 to 15 by a team that's not a great corsi team and was without two top six defensemen? lol.

But somehow they own FLA. If this team can do so well against FLA, there's no reason TOR can't find a way to be better against the Cats.
They are fast and have good breakout (and goalie). FLA cannot be in their face all the time as they do with Leafs. I doubt we can beat fla forecheck on consistent enough basis. However, Tampa plays similar to Mtl and they should take care of Florida for us.

Yeaaa boy. Good to have these meaningful playoff style games down the stretch for a change this year. normally we're locked in place playing whatever hockey 2 months ago
Not sure you can call that a playoff style game. The Habs were on a back to back and were terrible. The Leafs played well defensively which is a good sign though.

Sucks we had to go to OT. Gonna be tired tomorrow. Interested in seeing which Marlie gets the callup.

Now that we won I can say this was an entertaining game. That goalie for Montreal stood on his head. Our big boys were invisible though and our depth couldn’t do anything either. Not a great sign.
Leafs were sloppy. Habs were pathetic. Both teams going through the motions. Not a game Leafs should hang their hat on. Playoffs will be a much sterner test.

Tre has done a phenomenal job. Berube has done fine as well, an upgrade no doubt, but imo he has not been strong with lineups and personnel, and hasn't been on the same page as Tre here which is a problem in itself.

McMann is fine on L3 but you're getting significantly less value out of him. He rounds out L2 nicely and becomes an important player for the team. On L3 he can't help very much, so he looks closer to that 1.3M everyday third liner.

Agreed. Patches should be on the third line and McMann on the second.

I don't disagree that McMann makes the second line stronger, however he also makes the third line better. If Patches can get back to playing well with JT and Willy, it might make more sense to do this.

I don't understand what the lineup critique is on Berube. We have our first and fourth lines in good shape and just juggling 2nd and 3rd, made more difficult by Pacioretty on IL. What are the specific complaints?

I missed the game but I hear we played great tonight
I missed most of the game, but got home just as they dropped the puck for overtime. They looked okay in overtime.

Sounds like I did not miss much in the first sixty minutes. Interesting that I only invested 36 seconds in watching the game instead of the usual three hours.

Nice slew foot by Suzuki at the end of regulation there. Right in front of the ref. No wonder Marner was hot.
The league should really crack down on these dangerous non-hockey plays...fine some people and if they are repeat offenders, start suspending them...Sam Bennett is notorious for slew footing players.
