You assume Thomas would have even signed the offer sheet? Pretty sure he had no interest leaving St. Louis and was confident a fresh would get done. KK signed the sheet because he wanted out.

Yes I am sure Thomas would have said no to $6M to go to a contender when he can have $2.8M.

Pretty sure deep down KK was hoping the Habs would match

why would MTL be considered a contender and STL not?

and from what I've read, it's fairly common for players to turn down offer sheets

Never mentioned that MTL is a contender or that STL isn't. I said that Carolina is a contender.

Yes it's is fairly common for players to turn down offersheets, but probably very rare when the salary offered is 2x to 3x what the real players value is.
