Team has to be compliant before seasonI think Kulak easily fetches a 3rd, maybe a 2nd as he did 2 years ago at TDL. He is a very good 3rd pair guy on a reasonable contract. Even with pressure to trade they should easily find a taker without having to pay to trade him, but when you see walman needed a sweetener, anything can happen…
That being said, I don t see how EDM can keep both except if Kane goes LTIR.
The league can’t dictate when a player goes for surgery but the league can use 3rd parties to assess the situation, similar to what they did with Kucherov. The CBA pretty clearly lays out that teams have final authority for injury treatment.
Team doctors said he needed surgery, he wanted to get second opinions and seek alternative treatment, management obliged. But come training camp, if Jackson asks the doctor if their opinion is that Kane is at a higher risk of re-injuring without the surgery then that’s likely all they need to LTIR him. The Eichel/Buffalo situation was similar, team and player disagree on treatment but team has final say and player didn’t want to follow teams recommended treatment so he just sat on ltir.
The league can’t dictate when players have surgery, the team has some cover with Kane wanting to get second opinions and look at other possible treatments in lieu of surgery but in the end it was determined surgery was still the best option. It would be really difficult for the league to prove some grand conspiracy theory.
The league likely only gets involved if they pull a Tampa and hide him on ltir until playoffs.
Broberg and Holloway signed the offer sheets, Edmonton can still match. So it’s done? Title says they signed them?
Playoffs got them overpaidWhat? Both those guys played the entire year and playoffs, not sure how the 2 are related.
Couldn't disagree more with this line of reasoning. Get paid now, not "potentially". He doesn't want to be another Klingberg. If Edmonton values him they will match, otherwise a "possible" better payday down the line is a fools errand. But it doesn't, not really. No rational person could or would believe there's more points and thus dollar bills to be had lining up next to Thomas or Schenn vs. McDrai, and no rational person is choosing St. Louis over Edmonton as a Cup favorite the next two years.
It's a numbingly ignorant miscalculation on his and his agent's part, and I hope it blows up in both of their faces.
lol cute people still think pietrangelo wanted to re-sign with the Blues. it's the gift that keeps on giving.

He can earn a contract in StL too. Other teams would factor in any potential McDrai bump into his next contract anyways. His path forward is still his to make either way.
No its tge perfrct storm. Army always signs his rfas before season is over so.retaliation wont happen. Edm went full blown cap crazy put them selves in this position. This has to be connected to someone on Edmonton management team once pissing off someone who works for St Louis I guess
Neither are “good” players, but they are capable NHL bodies. The Blues won’t have issues with these contracts when it matters. The Blues are in a position to gamble, their window doesn’t open for 2 years and they have cap room.
hahah cmonSelfish move from Broberg hes not worth that. Youd think hed want to play with the best player in the world and contend for a cup. Holloway is well worth that price.
Coming after rumours of Drai and Mcdavid leaning towards team friendly deals...
They signed it. Why wouldnt they.I never understand how these work anyway. Doesn't the player have to sign it or he's basically benched by his current team?

Not all players play hockey solely to lift the Stanley Cup. These guys have nearly their entire lives ahead of them. But it doesn't, not really. These 2 signed it instantly after their jaw hit the ground at the amount they saw was offered... they wouldnt give a shit about their current team when offered this amountI never understand how these work anyway. Doesn't the player have to sign it or he's basically benched by his current team?
They dont have to sign it. Blues are not a bad team barely missed playoffs. Team has gotte better and our you g guys a year older. Dropped dead weight and now looks like broberg and holloway will add to thw team. Look outBecause you can be more or less forced to play for a bad team. I don't think any RFAs on say NYR/FLA right now would want offer sheets thrown their way from say San Jose or Utah
I actually love people taking the most they can get even if it screw over other people. It’s what makes capitalism so great. My point is that it’s not ideal to sign an offer sheet and then have to go back to the team that begrudgingly matches.Lol dont be bhurt its a business. They deserved to be paid. N9t thier faults 40mil of cap is tied up in 4 players thats bad management lol
ill give you the young part, but neither have overly impressed. Holloway does look the most promising out of the two thoughThey are young ascending players with high ceilings.
It is interesting. Somehow 20 players on the Oilers are going to get a bump in production due to playing with McDavid and Draisaitl. If you are a 3rd or 4th line winger or a 3rd pairing defensemen who doesn't get PP time with either player....then where exactly is this production bump coming from to lead you to believe turning down a sure thing pay day would literally ever be a good idea? Take your fan hat off for like one second and really think about it. Just tossing out a 90 point season for Holloway is honestly ridiculous lolGlad you mentioned Klingberg, he was the first name that came to mind. Holloway won't quite fumble a $56M bag but he could've been 24, potentially a PPG player thanks to the McDrai bump, and an RFA in a $~90M cap world. That would have easily netted him $9M per year on a longer term deal (Necas just got $6.5M @ 0.7 PPG Konecny $8.75M for 0.9 PPG). Now he's playing on a team with no lack of wingers and just one PPG center.
If the difference is $7M for say ~50 points in STL and $9M after 82 in EDM, that's a $14M loss over a seven-year contract. Hopefully Dylan has a good money manager in his corner, because that's the only way he will ever make such a huge sum back.
Players don’t have to sign offer sheets. They can choose to sign or turn them down in hopes the team they play for offers them a contract.I never understand how these work anyway. Doesn't the player have to sign it or he's basically benched by his current team?

Would you choose millions of dollars or would you prefer to have your name on a cup as a depth player most people are likely to forget about? (As a young player)
Kuzmenko chose Vancouver over lining up to play with McDrai.
