The extra year past this one killed his value.

Hard to imagine him getting claimed with $4.5 cap hit this year AND next. If it was just this year, I think he would've been tradeable with retention.

He also has full NTC this year I think so that could have a lot to do with it as well, even if the Blues retained for 2 seasons. Next year it's only a modified 12 team NTC.

Is he really that bad now? Overpaid, but seems hard to believe he's not an NHL calibre player.

Super streaky but consistent production. Goes long long stretches of being invisible. Then gets hot and somehow gets to 20 and 20. We don’t need that right now, we need ice time for other guys to see what they are. Makes sense, I’m surprised there wasn’t a trade to be made though.

Pacing for like 31 points this season. Cash due next season is $3.6 mill. Wonder how long his list is right now, as he trade list is only 12 teams he can't be dealt to next season. Is he opening it up to 19 teams or does he have it fairly limited for this season.

Blues need to take back something or retain a little. I don't see them moving him for a late draft pick and clearing the full cap hit.

He was very Saad to watch in last night’s game, couldn’t even a handle a tape to tape pass. Maybe Florida or a cup contender picks him up at max rentention.

Then he can play in Springfield. If someone wants him, take him. He’s going to do what he does. It’s just frustrating to watch it because 75% of the time it’s seemingly nothing.

the only thing he really has going for him is that his salary is slightly front loaded. i dont think his production is high enough that he'll get claimed though

All non-mega star players' offensive production is streaky. You could say this about almost any player.

I get wanting to see other players, but waiving him seems like a harsh outcome.

30ish points for $3.6M cash is not egregiously bad.

He has been bad this season but always been a shoe in for 20 goals 40/50 points and a reliable middle 6 winger. Not sure if its age or he's just checked out wanting to get out of town but surprised they actually waived him. Oh well, give some time to the kids.

It actually makes a lot of sense for the Penguins to claim him. They're already lacking in top-9 talent and Saad is an easy "get for free and flip later" candidate. Even if he's only moved for like a 3rd next year, I figure Saad as a rental would have value.
Silly, don’t you think St Louis would have “ flipped “ him for 3rd if they could have gotten any asset. They had been trying for weeks to trade him according to to the read …
