Team Canada likes to go with former star players than actual NHL GMs (Gretzky, Yzerman [Yzerman wasn't a GM yet when he was selected to pick the 2010 team]). If they follow this precedent, I'd like to see a guy like Joe Sakic get the next shot.

Don Cherry please.

Cherry: Ok guys, I think this team needs a little grit; can we get Colton Orr and Bryan Mcgrattan on the team?
Commitee: Don theres no fighting in Olympic hockey and those guys are plugs
Cherry: I dont give a **** we gotta protect our stars ****

If we follow the current trend it's probably Sakic, if he shows that he knows his stuff in the next few years.

That made me LOL

Marty St. Louis if he retires in the next couple years...

My vote is for Sakic as well. And I'd like to see him get involved this year at the WHC...as this victory only bumps us up to 3rd in the IIHF rankings. So, lets hope Hockey Canada doesn't do its traditional "who cares about the WHC in an Olympic year" sort of routine.

Talking about pressure on the next guy coming in after two gold medals...

I don't think it will be such a big deal, I'm sure one of the assistants will step in for him and the management staff is sickeningly reputable sans Lowe. They lead by committee it seems anyways. *Forgot that the NHL won't be in the Olympics anymore, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Europeans dominate when it turns Amateur
