So....... how is this different than hockey in the winter? This is true. Calling baseball a sport is inaccurate though. It is a fine summertime hobby that fans enjoy to get hammered and eat crappy food.

When was there a Devils Avs rivalry?NHL used yo have the best rivalries in sport
Bruins Habs
Aves Wings
Flyers Habs
Islanders Oilers
Flames Oilers
Nords Habs
Hawks Blues
Leafs Sens
Flyers Rangers
Sabres Bruins
Stars Aves
Bruins Whalers
Devils Flyers
Devils Aves
Bruins Flyers
All dead today.
Don't agree with Valiquette , but his comments and this debate have absolutely nothing to do with the complete absence of rivalries in today NHL
there wasn't. As a Devils fan we got:When was there a Devils Avs rivalry?
Unless he's referring to a Marty and Patrick rivalry which wad an actual thing.there wasn't
Never seen in a game? Didn’t Tarasenko do that one hand thing in a rangers uniform a few years ago? And AGAINST the rangers like 10 years ago when he was on the Blues?
I vividly remember the latter because I used to spam watch each of the “Tarasenko all 40 goals” compilations on YouTube lol
I really thought we were past that way of thinking. Welcome to 2024 Mr. fringe NHLer…
I saw Hughes post-game reaction (he kinda decided to ignore it). I guess it was brought up with Shesterkin as well, how did he react?
Thoughts?
yeah and with hundreds of career games getting hard rubber shot at his dome, he's got a lot more brain damage than i ever will“Mr. fringe NHLer” actually played in the NHL and will know more about the game then you ever will.
Whoops. When was there a Devils Avs rivalry?
Does he know more than Jack Hughes though? Because if you think Valliquette has the upper hand on us, shouldn't the same logic apply to the very fringe NHLer preaching to the legitimate star of the league how to play the game?“Mr. fringe NHLer” actually played in the NHL and will know more about the game then you ever will.
….and this is why the NHL sucks at promoting stars and rivalries. Some Neanderthal code that the game needs to be “played the right way” (TM). See how well that stubborn mentality has worked for MLB’s steeply declining popularity.
J. Hughes plays in one of the biggest markets and is a spectacular talent. If he wants to try the Forsberg - cool! If he pulled it off, you might get traction on (gasp!) instagram or whatever socials are rotting kids brains. He should marketed as one of the faces in the league.
The NBA embraces young talent showing personality, making over-the-top moves that get viewed a million times online. I’ll never understand why the NHL goes out of its way to dissuade its potential stars from being exciting.
Its because of that damn shootout. The NHL has been ran the way you've wanted it to be for almost 20 years now. Also there are no more rivalries anymore. I'll let you figure out why.
When was there a Devils Avs rivalry?
Also Marty vs Roy was a thing. The Nagano Olympics was the reason if I remember correctly. From 1995-2003, the Devils, Avs & Red Wings were clearly the top teams in the league with each winning multiple Cups and 8 out of 9 in that span. So, in that aspect there was surely something between the Devils - Red Wings and Devils - Avs, plus the fact that these teams met in the Cup Finals, though not to the degree that most would consider a rivalry.

No, pretty clearly tried the one had Forsberg type goal....but nothing burger here really. I'd be more annoyed if I was Hughes teammate here as that was a pretty lackluster attempt. It's looks like Jack has both hands on the stick and just does a simple forehand-backhand deke?
