In an attempt to be fair.

I do sort of get the point from the perspective that the Rangers had zero push back in a game against a rival at home while they were getting smacked around.

But he presents that point in such a whiny way and to imply Jack did anything wrong there is kind of piss baby shit.

But that's par for the course for him, he is a clown.

Obviously your job is to be a bit of a homer, but there is a huge difference between how Sam and Joe conduct themselves and how Vally does. I have far more respect for how Sam and Joe.

You don't have to make this a team war. The thread topic has quite literally nothing partisan about it. Rangers fans aren't defending the remark and don't even care about it. A commentator doesn't speak for a team or a fanbase. Think that goes without saying.

Because if we wanted we could say he's the Devils father with a 10-5-1 record and a .919 SV%.

Can't this thread be civil? You don't have to be the person to stoke conflict with Rangers fans for no reason.
This guy sounds like what I think Zib sounds like in the Rangers locker room. jk

….and this is why the NHL sucks at promoting stars and rivalries. Some Neanderthal code that the game needs to be “played the right way” (TM). See how well that stubborn mentality has worked for MLB’s steeply declining popularity.

J. Hughes plays in one of the biggest markets and is a spectacular talent. If he wants to try the Forsberg - cool! If he pulled it off, you might get traction on (gasp!) instagram or whatever socials are rotting kids brains. He should marketed as one of the faces in the league.

The NBA embraces young talent showing personality, making over-the-top moves that get viewed a million times online. I’ll never understand why the NHL goes out of its way to dissuade its potential stars from being exciting.

I'm embarrassed for Valiquette. That dude should go crawl in a hole and hope people someday forget about this, and his other J. Hughes-related, stupid takes. Oof. Epitome of sore loser. Hopefully his employer has a word with him to let him know how poorly he comes across, because he clearly has zero self-awareness. Yikes.

This actually plays really well into that "Kids these Days" commercial spot that the NHL was running in October-November. I'm like 99% sure Jacks was about being addicted to screen time.

Valiquette is a pretty good analyst when he sticks to X's and O's. His opinions are always embarrassing. I argued with him on Twitter about some dumb shit he said once.

Also f***ing Barstool calling somebody an adult baby is like Messier calling somebody bald.

I'm so confused by the j'accuse references probably because Jack Hughes is a fellow member of the tribe. Unless Hughes is Dreyfus, Valiquette is Madam Bastian, and all of us who think this is silly are Zola. In which case j'accuse refers to our accusation of injustice done to Hughes, not Vailquette's unjust accusation.

Also, Jack Hughes is funny.

I was gonna point that out to the person who said the NHL sucks at promoting rivalries. Say what you will about the NHL's marketing efforts, but that commercial was really good.

And yes, his was about screen time.

You're thinking too hard. "Jack Hughes" and "j'accuse" are pronounced very similarly.

NHL used yo have the best rivalries in sport
Bruins Habs
Aves Wings
Flyers Habs
Islanders Oilers
Flames Oilers
Nords Habs
Hawks Blues
Leafs Sens
Flyers Rangers
Sabres Bruins
Stars Aves
Bruins Whalers
Devils Flyers
Devils Aves
Bruins Flyers

All dead today.

Don't agree with Valiquette , but his comments and this debate have absolutely nothing to do with the complete absence of rivalries in today NHL
