He deserves credit in the sense that he handled this young team really well. His on ice and off ice stuff is also really solid
BTW. When u said he needs to fired, who did u mean?

I meant Carlyle. Spott should already have enough experience working with young players. He's a junior coach

While u make a valid point, the ahl is a pretty big step from junior.
Also i agree he shouldnt be made coach of leafs. I think that is setting him and the team up for failure

I agree. He's done nothing Eakins didn't do with his revolving door as well, and in fact, has gotten some pretty good defensive help this year as well. No point in even thinking about a coach until it's decided what direction this team is going. Carlyle and Eakins both proved what happens when you have a team that doesn't match the coach

I want Carlyle gone too but this guy is not the right replacement. We need someone with experience.

I've been a long time Kitchener Rangers fan, and I can tell you Steve Spoot was a much better assistant coach(under Pete DeBoer) than he was a head coach in the OHL. To hear people mention him as a head coach at the NHL level....just wow. I mean I understand maybe he has junior familiarity with Kadri and Clarkson, but those boys are men now.

honestly wouldnt mind him as the Leafs coach if we can bring in the right roster players

would be refreshing to see a team play well defensively and actually give it their all

Oh great, he's going to get the Eakins treatment around here. :shakehead

There is a reason these guys end up as AHL coaches; I'll let you figure it out.

who is available that might be a decent fit?

experience is obviously a handy thing to have in a coach but i almost think that we might be better off with a coach who is a little softer. our players seem to take a lot of abuse from coaches/fans/media, i think we need a coach to help motivate them and build them up. carlyle says that the nhl is not a development league but i think thats a crock of ****. players are constantly evolving, if the nhl was not a development league there would be no goalies under 28 and no defenseman under 25 in the league.

spot may not be the guy but i dont think it is necessary to only look for a coach with 800 nhl games under his belt coaching.
