Actually it would, because Ryan was underwhelming in the shortened year and his 11-12 season was nothing spectacular either. It's not like we left off Patty Kane, here, folks, Ryan has some legit question marks to his game.

He didn't play in Sweden as a junior? Only during the lockout. Although kids come over to play in the CHL, I guess.
Also, can someone help me find cumulative NHL stats since 2008-2009?

Hagelin is the ideal player for the big ice surface with his skating to play PK and as a 3rd/4th liner. He should be close to a lock.

The Rangers don't really have any use for Fowler though. He is a lefty shot. We already have McDonagh and Staal on the left as the first and 2nd pair d-man. DelZaster, Moore, Allen and Falk are also all lefty shots.
Fowler just wouldn't fit with the team, too many lefty shots. You could always just trade DelZaster and Staal, but McIlrath will be a good defender for the Rangers and is a righty shot. He is probably just as valuable to the Rangers as Fowler would be. Not that he is a better player, but McIlrath is a player the Rangers will need since the team only has two current righty shots.

The way fowler is playing this year, he would be the one making everyone outside of McD redundant. Not the other way around.
That being said, I still like the mcilrath pick ignoring hindsight and think he will be an asset. But here and now, we could have picked much better that day. Like every first round pick we make.

It seems as though Burke is holding a grudge for something way in the past.
I sort of see what Poille is trying to do. The neanderthal logic of a skilled top 6 and grinding bottom 6. I'm just questioning whether the grinding role will be as effective on a larger ice surface, I personally am not a fan. USA can compete with the best at the skill level game, why downgrade into such a pathetic playing style on the international stage?

He's basically the only defender on the team that likes to throw his body around. I don't think he'll play a lot but they'll use him if they feel they need a physical presence.
I know the ice is bigger and all that but the only way this US team can win it all is if they wear on teams and play some real physical hockey.

He's not Patty Kane, but he's a better ALL-AROUND goal scorer than everyone but Kane, and arguably Kessel. (Kessel and Ryan are just different players to me.)
It's a big risk, and the "questions" are overblown. This reeks of something personal. It's not like he was so bad in 2010 that his commitment and drive left something to be desired. The part of his game being questioned is not a part of the game a player just drops out of nowhere. He's the same player he was in 2010, and while they're trying to sell you this idea of having much harder roster choices this time around, that's really only true of the defense.

It's not as if the team lacks scoring and left Ryan off. We're going to have three high end scoring lines, and an awesome fourth line to boot that has the ability to chip in goals. We're going to have 25+ goal two way players on our fourth line, it's not like we're putting Boyle at C because he's a great fourth liner at the NHL level or whatever.
