Found the Toronto installation by Mitsubishi. Also wrong on showing TOI...unless they don't show it during penalties. Still looks nice.

I figured there might be some structural reason why the Garden doesn't have a bigger screen. It'll be interesting to see how they pull this off if the Bruins have a downswing. If we miss the playoffs three times in a row, STHs, and hence revenues, are going to start dropping.

No secret that the renovations went over budget and at the same time playoff revenue vanished.

My Chicago friend who was at TD Garden 2 months ago was at Verizon Center in Washington and she said that place was a dump compared to TD. She said seats in the upper bowl are as bad as the wooden grandstand seats at Fenway.

The out of town media dislikes TD Garden mainly because of the elevator situation getting from the press box to the dressing rooms.

Reminds me of all the talk on how everything else in the country is old and falling apart. I hope the Jacobs do upgrade it regardless of cost because Boston deserves it! Its that simple, and he can afford it.

That would be great.

I went out to eat with a bunch of my buds tonight and one went to the State of Bruins. He's been a season ticket holder and knows a bunch here. He said no players or Jacobs present but the questions were solid and Sweeney and Neely seemed very comfortable and at ease talking

Because there weren't many there it was like a living room talk and said way better than the usual zoo

He said they didn't have hot dogs because at 10 AM and had pastries donuts coffee instead (free)

He enjoyed it and said the takeaway was they are looking to build a deep pool that brings up young players every year - Sweeney went over names

Also one of my buds went out with hangs with said friend and is one of Boston's Finest and all I can say as after the stuff I heard on TS I 100% understand why they traded him

Complain on Eriksson Smith and Morrow but they had to move him boy did they have to

Worse than Patrick Kane's antics?? (and his brother Evander for that matter)

When they do it it will be a decent upgrade and in the end the board pays for itself.

It just won't be the biggest in the NHL because of physical limitations of TD Garden itself.

I'm sure you guys touched on this already but anyway 4K If I remember correctly came about in 2011-2012.

True - However the cost of the processing equipment was very expensive then. The control room is the most costly part of a new scoreboard. The Bruins are looking to build a control room that can upgrade to 8K a few years later.

I worked security at the Garden for a year and can attest that the elevator situation is a complete **** show. There are only 2 freight elevators for back of the house operations, VIP transportation, medical transportation, etc. There's a reason they have a security guard manually operate them starting 90 minutes before and ending 90 minutes after any event.

He needed to go

Always nice to see someone like TS doing things that if you and I had done we'd still be peering out from behind bars. I wonder what he's up to in Dallas- I have a relative that is a high-ish ranking DPD officer; I'll ask him if he knows anything . . .

The Bruins have posted an edited transcript of the Saturday morning event

https://www.nhl.com/bruins/news/neely-sweeney-address-fans-at-state-of-the-bruins/c-285717804

Home Record

The Bruins were 17-18-6 at TD Garden last season and are 10-10-0 at home this season.

Don Sweeney: "We need to do a better job in front of each and every one of you with our home record. We currently sit in second place in the Atlantic, but we feel that we've left some points on the table. The last two seasons, in particular, we haven't played as well as we're capable of in front of you. In our own building, we're tracking at 47 or 48 percent of the points available, versus 61 [on the road]."

Cam Neely: "It's been a year-and-half below par for us. It's been disappointing from our perspective; I know it's been disappointing from your perspective. I know the players think about, they're frustrated with it. I think on the road you play a little simpler game…we want to do well in front of your fans and have a great home record. Sometimes when you worry too much about that, you start thinking instead of just reacting and playing."

Expansion Draft

With the Vegas Golden Knights joining the NHL for next season, an expansion draft will be held in June to stock the team's roster. Each team in the league will have to expose players to the draft.

Sweeney: "We're actually in a very good position. There's two ways to look at your expansion protection list, you can either do a 10-player or an eight-player. Most teams would have what they would consider four coveted defensemen, maybe they would have to go with four forwards and four defensemen. Most teams would go the 10-player-route, which is going to be seven forwards and three defensemen. You always have to protect a goaltender and expose a goaltender. One of the interesting caveats, you better follow the rules because if you do not it's a first-round draft choice.

"It takes three years to be exposed, so any player that has not accumulated three years of professional service is exempt. So we have a tremendous amount of young players that will fall into that category.

"We do have players that will be exposed. Whether or not they're selected is up to Vegas."

Hypothetical after reading Sweeney's comments:

He mentioned that if you don't follow the expansion draft rules, you lose a first round pick.

What would happen if a winning team likes the depth of their roster, from ELC wunderkid who's a future star down to the grizzled vet who's slightly expensive but a good team guy and scores clutch goals. Could a team defy the rules, rule everyone protected, and " put up " with the penalty of losing a late 1st round pick as opposed to breaking the chemistry of their team?

Cam Neely should be forced to sit in a room and listen to the baloney he tells us for an hr on tape. They are depressing running this team.

Honest question:

Did Sweeney talk more about the expansion draft than the trade market?

Sweeney: "We're actually in a very good position. There's two ways to look at your expansion protection list, you can either do a 10-player or an eight-player. Most teams would have what they would consider four coveted defensemen, maybe they would have to go with four forwards and four defensemen

What a sickening display to have been at and have to actually listen to these two. This guy Sweeney is worried about everything about the team, prospects, cap issues, expansion draft.......

Did they forget to tell him he is also responsible for the team on the ice ?. What a scared small man who obviously cannot take the pressure and is in way over his head. Anything he has done so far, a ten year old could have done. Making and NHL caliber trade for NHL legit talent, is something he seems to not be able to bring himself to do. I think he is now starting to feel the heat. He can run but he cannot hide.

Which trade would you have liked him to have done?

Who would your replacement be for Sweeney as GM?
