I can imagine a lot of softies from fans who are in awe of Sweeney and Cam. "How does it feel to be the GM of an Original Six franchise?" "Do you think we will make the playoffs?" "What is your day like?"

I wish someone would put them on the spot and ask why the hell Jimmy Hayes is still on the team. Or why did they give up draft picks for Rinaldo and Liles? Why did they let Eriksson go without getting anything for him?

Make 'em sweat a little. The fans are restless and want a commitment to the future. I hope someone represents their interests at the show and tell.

Well said. That's what I would do without any hesitation if I were a season ticket holder attending this event. I would let them have it, in other words they would definitely hear my voice. I guess a lot of folks would rather hold those tough questions and rants for the HFBOARDS forum. Some people really can care less if they win or lose its just something to do on a Saturday afternoon with the kids/family etc..

If you and Ratty come up next year I'm sure I can get you in. I'll have my kid film it. That would be outstanding. It's probably in September and she can make you two HF Police. The Jacobs would be there and you can even go after JJ.

If I'm still a member here send me a PM and I'll make sure I get you in plus love meeting HF folks

The questions my bud told me were asked weren't softies but after 35 years as a season ticket holder he's probably sympathetic to the Bruins

You know what, I would like that.. DKH I know you really really care and I must admit after reading you're post now I probably was a bit harsh and putting to much of my own personal feelings into it which isn't fair nor nice. Especially since I have never been there myself. I am sure the majority of the people who show up to this event really do care and ask very good questions.

I kind of feel bad rite now but oh well I'll leave the post as is.

They ask crap questions- you nailed it actually.

That's why they have changed it around

Only one question matters

Are you Cam & Don fully backed by the owners to do what's right long term or do you feel you have to win now or be out in the street'

Is that rite DKH. Thank you.. I mean, lets remember they are inviting you guys/gals to this event because you/fans are the BOSTON BRUINS. In other words you all are members of the board and that is a "board meeting." What you guys say there I would imagine matters a lot to ownership because its you/$$ who pays the bills.

They we're fairly clear when I asked my question a few years ago that I had to ask exactly what I said I would... Didn't seem like they would have taken a rant all that well.

They also have a few thousands dollars of mine and the ability to take my tickets away... I'd love to have an honest talk with them but calling that group of guys out during that presser probably isn't the best idea...

Especially the hot dogs @ the Garden. By far the best I've ever had anywhere :yo:

They are decent but one arena blows them away for hot dogs. Sadly it is in Poutineville.

Thanks for the offer, Dan. I may take you up on it.

So no reports?

Just a waste of time with Managment screening questions and hiding from the fans since September?

Only one question matters:

If the Boston Bruins miss the playoffs once again which one of you is out of a job?

THanks DKH!

I figured the rest of the questions are simply window dressing. If it is clear who is on the hotseat and what the plan is, most fans can temper their expectations for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Boston Bruins.

That's all that really matters then.

I expect the team to put out the status quo and hope for a 7-3 run amidst .500 hockey and trying and squeak in again while keeping all their prospects developing.

Sound plan for the future. Shame it's going to cost us the coach they will NEED when this team is a contender again in a couple years.

Not going to cost the coach if he makes the playoffs

They are a top team in shots, possession, and road record

Don't fall for all the get a cluers here that describe them as the Bad News Bears

Possession has taken a complete 180 this year, it's kind of crazy. It went from the Bruins completely relying on the Bergeron line to bring them to respectability (meaning average), to the Bergeron line being even better relative to the team than they usually are, but still being excellent in their own right without Bergeron.

CF% 2015/16 (including Bergeron): 17th
CF% 2016/17 (including Bergeron): 1st

CF% 2015/16 (without Bergeron): 28th
CF% 2016/17 (without Bergeron): 4th

And as mentioned before, the Bergeron line's relative #s are even better this year.

Delaware North now plans to install a new scoreboard at TD Garden for the 2018-19 season. It will include a new 4K control room. The budget has been earmarked for $3 million as the price of these boards has been dropping.

5 companies have expressed interest

Daktronics (current board and Gillette)
Mitsubishi Electric (Fenway Park)
Panasonic
Prismview (Samsung)
Lighthouse

Any plans for new seats ? They could really use a upgrade.

I hope the Garden doesn't use the new scoreboard system for more advertisements for costume jewelry, and puts more actual in-game information, like an "on ice" tracker with TOI, shots, and G+P=A for all 10 skaters on ice. Pretty sure I've seen that in Toronto and/or New York. I can't say if it's a permanent display there, or if they alternate it with ads, but actually either is fine with me.

There is nothing more maddening in the Garden than when you're in a high balcony end seat, there's a power play going on, and the HDX is blocking the ONE little part of the rings in the Garden where you can see the SOG tally while there's a PP.

I feel like the current scoreboard is only like 6 or 7 years old, right? Is that considered ancient in the arena business?

On a sidenote - did everyone see that they are going to completely redevelop the Arsenal Mall? I hope they incorporate the old Garden scoreboard into the design again or give it back to the Bruins to use at their new development somehow. Don't want to see that thing thrown away

According to this Wikipedia article, a "new HD entertainment board" was installed before the 2006-7 season:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TD_Garden#Renovations

I imagine that refers to the HDX, but I'm not the resident Bruins historian. I do know from watching some clips that they went from one LED ring and one ring of static advertisements to 2 LED rings sometime around 2009-11.

The timeline seems right for a new scoreboard. HD was barely starting to pick steam around 2006-7ish in households, and we seem to be in the same place technologically with 4K (ie those who are ultra-early adopters have it, but the masses don't).

This is the MSG board.

One issue they have to work around is the roof of TD Garden is lower than most arenas.

Found the Toronto installation by Mitsubishi. Also wrong on showing TOI...unless they don't show it during penalties. Still looks nice.

HD_AirCanadaCentre_960.jpg

I figured there might be some structural reason why the Garden doesn't have a bigger screen. It'll be interesting to see how they pull this off if the Bruins have a downswing. If we miss the playoffs three times in a row, STHs, and hence revenues, are going to start dropping.

That would be great.

I went out to eat with a bunch of my buds tonight and one went to the State of Bruins. He's been a season ticket holder and knows a bunch here. He said no players or Jacobs present but the questions were solid and Sweeney and Neely seemed very comfortable and at ease talking

Because there weren't many there it was like a living room talk and said way better than the usual zoo

He said they didn't have hot dogs because at 10 AM and had pastries donuts coffee instead (free)

He enjoyed it and said the takeaway was they are looking to build a deep pool that brings up young players every year - Sweeney went over names

Also one of my buds went out with hangs with said friend and is one of Boston's Finest and all I can say as after the stuff I heard on TS I 100% understand why they traded him

Complain on Eriksson Smith and Morrow but they had to move him boy did they have to

It was installed for the 2006-7 season and if was the FIRST HD board in any arena in North America.

http://media.delawarenorth.com/dela...inition-scoreboard-at-td-banknorth-garden.htm

n addition to housing the country's first HD scoreboard, the TD Banknorth Garden is the first and only indoor arena with an HD-capable control room linked to the HD video screen. The control room contains 54 Dell plasma 24-inch screens, four HD Ikegami cameras and one Canon HD camera. It also controls the robotic camera positioned beneath the scoreboard giving a 340-degree view of the arena. The state-of-the-art control room brings the HD broadcast live to the in-house audience, offering the best and most advanced quality video to Celtics and Bruins fans.

The Bruins found that being first had problems and now with boards being 4K they wanted to let somebody else work out the bugs.
