Start Talbot on a consistent basis

Op doesn't wanna ruffles feathers... Then proceeds to mention one of the hot topics on the board lol

Next thread you may wanna post "to not ruffle feathers" is either supporting fighting or not.... Nothing can go wrong there :p jk op

Ha…

December 2, 2013 against the Winnipeg Jets, Olli Jokinen.

One goal in 11 games. Pick out some more weak ones if you can. There's probably at least a good half dozen that Henrik's given up in his last 10 games. You can blame everything on his teammates but a lot of goals he's given up this year were stoppable. His save % is mediocre.

He's having a **** season--that doesn't mean that he won't find his game again or that his career is over but the results aren't there. He's a main reason why we're not doing well. When your best players don't play well your team stinks.

Agreed.

Lundqvist's days in New York are numbered. If I was AV, I'd give Talbot an open endorsement to be the #1 goaltender in New York.

It's only fair after everything Talbot has been able to achieve in New York this season.

Yeah, he's got about 3000 left to go. So that's a number.

lol, good one :)

@thread at large :

Hank is not going to be replaced as the regular starter, not short of a meltdown of epic proportions. He has struggled a bit, yes. But that goes for the entire team. He'll be back to normal and saving our behinds on a daily basis before long :)

"I don't wanna ruffle feathers" means "I am about to ruffle feathers."

"With all due respect" and "I don't want to insult you" means "I'm gonna tell you the nastiest thing I think about you, but you can't get offended."

You guys are hilarious. All of a sudden Hank is a bum and he's not worthy of the starting job? He's going through a rough patch. It happens to the best of players...it's a slump. I should expect Ranger fans to be fickle but it boggles my mind how quick people are to dismiss a guy with such a track record. To each their own I guess.

literally no one had said that when you posted this. Some of the fans that defend hank are equally as ridiculous as the fans who bash him. Come join me in the middle of the spectrum.

I know that's the point of my joke

And you know with all due respect....

Talbot is getting the old Hartford treatment: either breakaways, 2-on-1s or power plays.

We all hope that Henrik will go back to being the best goalie in hockey.

But until that happens I can't think of any reason not to play Talbot as the current number one.

8-2 vs. 10-18?

How can you ignore that?

Its impressive that he doesn't look rusty at all.

hopefully this lights a fire under hank's ass when he gets teh next oppurtunity. however talbot has earned teh right to keep playing as long as he is sharp

I thought Talbot had terrible rebound control.
He actually has outstanding rebound control. He gives up a lot of rebounds, but plays them all to teammates

Cam is playing tremendous but lets not forget that both Valiqutte and Biron both had great stretches of not losing and playing lights out only to crash.. I am not a Hank lover but he is the only hope are going past the first round .. 8-2 now can be 10-10 really fast

Truth is the opportunities for the opposition have been MUCH better in the games against Lundqvist. 3 on 1's down low, etc... Not taking away from Talbot and not saying Lundqvist hasn't let in some he'd like back, but the team has been lights out better defensively when playing in front of Talbot for whatever reason.

BEST POST EVER TO PROVE MY POINT ABOUT HANK LOVE.. Omg really you say not taking away from Cam But lol.. The blinders on this board are epic

Hank is in a slump and Talbot is playing very well, though only over a short period. Generally, I wouldn't worry about the franchise screwing this thing up, but I thought AV handled the Vancouver goalie situation in the absolute worst possible way, so I do worry a bit that he's going to alienate this team's best player for seasons and seasons and seasons. As for sitting Hank, I'd talk to him as the coach and see where his head's at. He wants to win more than anything. I think he'd be honest. If he feels he's ready to go out and prove that he deserves every game, let him. If he's hesitant or thinks some part of his game needs work, don't think twice about playing a backup who is on a roll right now.

I'm fairly certain I've heard the players say that themselves. They play tighter in front of the backup. Many teams do.

Ridiculous. People think it's throwing Henrik under the bus to say he's been bad. He hasn't been subpar or struggling, he has flat-out sucked. Rough patch? We're half way in and he's sucked all season. Unless he turns it around in the second half, it was a ****** season for him. Accept reality, Lundqvist is playing like utter ****.

Doesn't mean trade him... no one will trade for a goalie making 8 1/2 M for the next 7 years, who has played like **** all season anyway... but let Talbot take over till he falls off, if he does any time soon.

rule

Many goalies had the great start. Just remember Montoya. When he started in Phoenix and the 2nd season with Islanders, everybody here was like....we just gave the top goalie for nothing.
1st season. Phoenix Montoya 92,5% vs Bryz 90,62% 2nd season Islanders Montoya in 20 games 92,14% and 9 wins of 24 that Isles had in whole season.
since then..still backup.

or Vesa Toskala...as a 2nd in Sharks much better win ratio than first goalie(Nabokov had worse GAA, win ratio and SV%) So they signed him in toronto as first.

Goalies have to prove themselves in more tha few games of their first season.

After what was essentially another shut out last night, an outstanding SV% and GAA, and only one truly poor start to his resume , I have to agree right now. He deserves the starts.
