They are pretty comparable, there's no scenario barring a really strong year for Oetter this year, that he has a legitimate case for 10M

I like Swayman a lot but he's been in a 1A/1B tandem and hasn't played a single season as a #1. He's never played more than 44 regular season games. Meanwhile, Oettinger's been a #1 since 2021-22 when he played 48 games... and he's taken the team to back to back WCFs.

The Stars are in an interesting position with Johnston.

In the last couple of seasons, Benn and Seguin were replaced with Miro and Robertson on all of the big signage and ads.

But it feels like both in their marketing and in the choices national media make Johnston is becoming the face of the franchise. You can't really go cheap on the guy you hold up as your golden child.

I wouldn't say it's more impressive than swaymans. Swayman has a better sv percentage and gaa than oettenger in regular season. Oettenger has only played 60 more games.

Swayman has a better career playoff sv% and gaa too.

Only thing really working against swayman is he wasn't given the opportunity in the regular season to show he could carry the teams 60gp per season load. But he was sharing the net with a recent vezina winner.

They are both 25 too. This deal was probably the easiest deal in the world for both sides to take given the Bruins did all the hard work of setting the market.
