Who among the UFAs and RFAs would be someone most of us would be happy wasn't resigned?

I think most would want Tanev or even Duschene signed or at least not be happy to see them walk, same for most of the RFAs since just letting them walk would be bad asset management.

That pretty much leaves Pavs, Smith, Jani, and Wedgewood.

So Jani, or is there an irrational hatred for someone that I'm missing?

any time he's played? nah. i'm still hoping for the best with the guy and not ready to give up, but even in short minutes his play has directly given up goals.
So has literally every defender on the roster, what's your point?

I think most people would be happy with Pavelski retiring after the season, but Jani not coming back would be great.

Jani should be the only one let go in UFA, as well as Smith if he isn't willing to take league minimum there are plenty of options for the 13th forward. Pavelski should retire, I'm hoping we could get Duchene for something like 5.0 x 3/4 years idk what hes expecting on free agent market but should be a comeptetive salary and pretty good security.

If Tanev doesn't re-sign , Jani isn't re-signed and with Nils falling out of favor the teams RHD are well . Nobody ? Thats gotta be a priority .

the ppl paid to coach the team seem to think so. pretty sure they know more about it than you or i.
I mean we watched Suter and Hakanpaa get walked 100x and never sit. Coaches have favorites and players they hate.
DeBoer hated Larrson in NJ too.
Nils makes mistakes but not as many as his ice time would lead you to believe

I don't know. They sat Hakanpaa for the final six weeks of the season after watching his play deteriorate.

i mean of course they can, they're human, but to make this drastic of a decision tells me it's not just bc they woke up grumpy one day.
can't recall the razor's name.. the simplest answer is most likely.
Occam's razor, and it's kind of a fallacy, most things aren't simple.

“Another way of saying it is that the more assumptions you have to make, the more unlikely an explanation”

I think that’s pretty damn true
That may be true but it doesn't mean making less assumptions leads to the right explanation, either. I think less assumptions just makes it easier to put faith into because it has less to prove in order to be right.
