Analysis: Hemming was a very good player at the Finnish junior level and for Finland’s U18 team. He got time in Liiga and with the world junior team, although both were in limited-minutes roles. Hemming has a lot of offensive talent. He’s a highly skilled winger who can skate well. He is dangerous in transition, creates a lot of controlled entries and can break open shifts with his skill. Hemming can make plays and see openings develop, but his shot is his best weapon. He can rip pucks from range and will be a legit goal-scoring threat versus top goalies. Like a lot of goal scorers, Hemming can lean on his shot too much and stays on the outside. The lack of interior offense and inconsistent effort are the only things keeping me from tabbing him as a potential middle-six forward.
Pick grade: B-
Thoughts on the pick: Hemming is one of the better natural goal-scorers in the draft with a solid overall talent level. He frustrated scouts at times with his consistency and lack of playmaking, but there’s no doubting he can be an NHL scorer if he hits. He has a little more size than some of Dallas’ other top forward prospects, which helps. His game rubbed me the wrong way, but I see the path to him being a middle-six forward.
u mean future winger for 3rd line C in decline Roope HintzFuture winger for Mavrik
BPAers are going to hate this, but talk to me again about the RWs in our system with NHL potential

Kasper Halttunen 2.0?Hemming was basically 4th line winger in TPS last season
that's why he didn't get much ice time and being honest i was a bit surprised
he went undrafted in CHL import draft last year but hopefully that will change next Wednesday.
I'm not sure playing 4th line minutes again in TPS
is best environment for Hemming's development to NHL player.
That's why if he gets drafted to CHL next week Stars should put him there
Yep. Those of you who wanted a Bork style "he makes it or he doesn't" pick, this is right up your alley.Boom or bust type, love it.
Either he figures out his compete/skating/middle ice attack and becomes a top line player, or he doesn't. Dallas will give him the tools and time to figure it out.
Maybe and maybe not but we'll see that with a time for sure.Kasper Halttunen 2.0?
That's why i wanna see Hemming in CHL because playing against his peersThere seems to be at least 4 shift-by-shifts on youtube (2 in the Liiga, 1 at the Hlinka and 1 at the U18s) so it was nice to be able to watch him a bit this morning. Though TPS has a terrible camera angle sadly.
The effort and the skating itself seemed good to me, he thinks the game slowly however. Doesn't seem to have great off puck movement or vision and he's a bad defender at this stage. I guess this is more of a developmental pick so we'll see but right now his game kind of rubs me the wrong way.
That's why i wanna see Hemming in CHL because playing against his peers
gives better knowledge for Stars management what type player
they have in Hemming than playing against men's
SM liiga today is absolute crap
and the game there is more soccer on the ice than actual / real hockey.
