They've lost a lot more than just this one and after each one, we have to hear whatever litany of excuses from you why it doesn’t actually matter and anyone else that doesn’t ascribe to that is wrong.

What does this even mean? They have been middling for 65% of the season thus far, they aren’t far down in the standings because they built up a cushion with their good record in the first 25ish games.

Team is 8-10-3 since Christmas.

If they win and get points at only this same clip for the final 24 games they’ll finish with 90 points.

That may be enough to just barely make it or just barely miss.

And their schedule will probably be tougher, as I don’t think there’s another 8 game stretch like Philly x3, Ottawa, Boston, Montreal, Buffalo, Pittsburgh or 9 of 10 with those teams with Montreal twice and Vegas being the only clearly good team we face in 10 games. And we still only went 5-5-0 in those 10.

Throw your fit, that’s fine. They played well against a top 5 team in the league and lost. You can toss it with the rest of the games for your narrative. A very fun way to go through a season.

2-3 would be my guess.

1 win against one of the three good teams and 1-1 against the two humpties. With the loss being something really embarrassing like the loss in Arizona last year or possibly another blue balls deluxe comeback tease that falls just short. Much like tonight or that last game in Buffalo.

Maybe that 3 turns into a 1 for an OT/shootout loss and we go 2-2-1.

If the road trip goes badly and the first game back against Winnipeg is another doozy like the only two games played there in the last 30 days prior it will be a very tough crowd.

I switched to the Red Bulls game at 7:30 and watched them lose 1-0 and then watched the rest of this on the DVR and was hoping for a big come back win but yup. Sports suck this past week.

I didn’t strip any context from Jack’s four nations play. There were a few things working against him for sure. I’m not such a wool over the eyes homer that I’d seriously trot out shot suppression charts to avoid calling him out when he doesn’t play well like you, though. It’s not unlike the way you see everything through company man glasses to not shatter your fragile pre-existing ideas about the team itself, tbh.

Glad you’ve stopped banging the drum about how they’re just losing because of “fatigue”, though. That’s so seven weeks ago, I guess.

Seriously, just take the L. This team hasn’t even cracked .500 in two months worth of games. I don’t even know what it is you’re arguing anymore, it just seems like you’re hell bent on grasping at straws to insist they are better than they really are.

I miss the days of complaining about Lindy and the goalies. Now our top defense and great goalie play don’t even get a mention. It’s not like those things matter at all or are reasons why you should buy this team. Gotta focus all the attention on bottom 6 scoring depth.

Now goal differential is the thing? lol. They have lost a lot of one goal games - yes I know you’re gonna attribute that to bad luck. It definitely has nothing to do with their wildly inconsistent scoring from game to game, which is a result of them relying relying almost exclusively on 3 guys who can generate a lot but are still only average finishers.

This team has been mid for most of the season now, and it’s cause 2/3 of our forward group can’t be relied upon to produce at the rate they were expected to when this season began. You’re shocked that that’s what we are talking about?

I never said they weren’t gonna make the playoffs, just that they’ve been bad for 89% of the season and the roster is bad and there’s no reason to think they’ll be better to finish the year because they’re losers that don’t know how to win. The fact that Vegas still sees them as a legitimate contender doesn’t mean anything, you must be doing a bit if you’re not shitting your britches after a loss to the Stars.
