Overtimes are such garbage. Bring back ties.

Things not seen after a tie:

Better than Dallas tonight…
Obviously the win is everything, but that first 90 seconds was awful. And we've seen it over and over. The only thing I'll give them credit for is not losing it on a bad change, though they still almost got burned at the end of that shift. Thankfully they got the goal after that to win.

Now, at the end of the day, it's 3 on 3 and barely matters in the grand scheme of our goals. But this team could be better in 3 on 3 again with some smarts from the players and better coaching on who to put out there to start things.

Devils most likely gonna lose too, so after all that panic a month ago, we are going to be 2 points back of 1st in the division with a game in hand. And now 4 straight wins without our 1C, 1G, 1LW
Sandbagging as a strategy..catch them by surprise

Or it could be they are finally getting acclimated after all the changes.

and oh hey, New Jersey will have cold streaks too.

This is what really changed. There was a long stretch where no matter what we did, getting long stretches of earning points and everything, Jersey was winning all their games so it was impossible to make up ground. If the Devils are in fact a pretender and coming back down to earth, that‘a great news for the Canes.

I’ll be the first to push back on Staal slander, but Rod needs to stop putting him out for the opening faceoff. He’s there to win those and he’s struggling with those center ice draws for some reason.
I think the move at this point is to put out Nachos, Svech, and Slavin and if they lose the Faceoff hope Slavin can steal it from someone. If you win it, Necas has the puck and he’s an OT cheat code as long as he doesn’t get in his own way.

I never really doubted the Devils scoring, but their D and goaltending was playing light years ahead of where it ought to be.

The whole concept of running out a shutdown line in 3v3 feels a bit zigging while the rest of the league zags for the sake of it. Staal's an elite defensive player because of board work and body positioning, not speed and individual stick plays, like Slavin for example. The latter is what 3v3 is about, no?. Play him as a 2nd or 3rd shift forward with another forward if you really want him out there.

It seemed like the Devils were only playing the Sens, Habs, Jackets, Sabres, and Flyers during their winning streak. They definitely have had one of the softest schedule in the league out of the gate.

Now it's starting to get tougher, and they are losing a bit. It will be interesting to see if they let it spiral.. they are a young team...
