If you use Tavares as the default, any combination of Tavares (using his time with the Leafs) or one of Marner/Matthews/Nylander have been outscored by Draisaitl or McDavid alone.

The lowest point total for the EDM two is 98 point with McDavid in 62 games, the highest point total for the Leafs is Tavares and Marner at 72 points in 95 games.

Hell even Matthews and Marner only have 98 points in 112 games.

Sounds a lot like "respect in the handshake line". Opposing players and coaches will always say nice things - especially when they win.

Matthews is a great player and he has been ok in the playoffs, but results speak for themselves - he has been just ok and has not elevated his game the way one would hope.

That said it is not the complete disappearing act that Marner pulls.

That is surprising, but then again it is rare to get reality about the Leafs from the Leaf propaganda machines that are the mainline sports media. None would dare knock Matthews - it's taken them 5 years to poke at Marner FFS.

As for the Tkachuk family, Keith was a bad playoff performer, Mathew is a good playoff performer and Brady can’t make the playoffs.
