Would June 24 be the latest nhl date in history aside from the covid years?

That date just blows my mind.

The 1995 and 2013 Finals, both following lockouts, ended on June 24. 2022 ended on June 26.

Is the NHL somewhat handcuffed here as the Mavs made the NBA finals and would compete against the Stars for arena availability? Is that the reason why the schedule is dragged out as much as it is?

I fear for the quality of the ice with games in Florida in mid June. Seems like an excessive break between the end of round three and the finals

The finals really don’t need to take a month

I didn't realize that there were only 17 days in a month.

The Cup Final schedule is set a year in advance based on broadcast preference. Any arena conflicts have to be bought out in favor of the Cup Final.

(Of course the schedule is coordinated with the NBA who have the same broadcast partners and also set their Finals schedule a year in advance)
