Assuming you guys don't live in SoCal, like I do. You should hear it here. Unbelievably arrogant bandwagonners (as most LA sports fans are). I am wearing Rangers gear every time I leave the house this week, including tonight to the kid's HS hockey tryout where I will see, among others, Teemu Selanne. I am going to try to get Teemu to wear a Rangers hat and take a picture with me. If I get it, I will post it. It is almost like having to deal with the carpetbaggers from the Islanders and Devils when I lived back there. For this reason, the Rangers need to come through so I will have bragging rights over these bandwagon Kings fans.

Haha awesome. Good luck at the hockey tryout

Not surprised we are being doubted or LA are strong favorites to many. LA is champion pedigree and they have a crazy knack for finding ways to win. You score 3, they net 4. You play great and hold them to 2, they can hold you to 1. The Kings are facing the best goalie they've seen this playoffs, by far, and I think a more low scoring series with us is probable. I expect their scoring to drop, as well as their PP%. I also expect Quick to raise his game and be more difficult to beat. A person's honest opinion shines through if you have to put you money where your mouth is. Me personally, I would never bet on this series. My gut feeling and inclination would be to bet LA, but my rational mind says don't bet against Hank right now. I'd be terrified, either way, to lay money on this series.

Kings fans have no idea what they are in for. The rangers will use all the BS about them not having a chance and use it as extra motivation like they need any to begin with. These guys are a proud group and I'm sure a lot of these guys are pissed and they will come out flying Wednesday night.

The self-deprecation is admittedly getting a little old. Just meeting hyperbole with hyperbole. If the Rangers are going to earn respect, it's gonna be on the ice, not on HFBoards. Hell, even if they win the Cup, there's still gonna be a large faction of people trying to add their own asterisk to it, for whatever arbitrary and bitter reasons.

Montreal, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia would have all "beat themselves" while the Rangers had fortuitous bounces go their way and the Kings were gassed in the finals. Duh.

In my opinion this series will come down to special teams. If the NYR can play dominate on the penalty kill that will bode well for them winning the series. If they can score on 20% on the pp than we have a great shot at winning.

Also the magic number is 3+ goals. If we can get to 3-4 goals then LA will have to score 4-5 to win. I don't see anyone getting 3+ goals a game consistently vs Hank.

Muzzin and Voynoy are both pretty good as well, and arguably just as good, if not better, than Staal and G. I think Staal and Girardi are better but it's really close, and Voynoy and Muzzin can both put up points.

After them, though, I take Stralman over any of their other dudes.

They can score but Staal and Girardi decimate them both defensively.

Though I'll say Muzzin is having a spectacular post season.

Muzzin has looked great shooting into traffic. thats one thing ive noticed..when he takes shots, he waits for traffic and puts the puck on net somehow..amazingly.

thats how hes getting his goals/points. getting pucks on net with traffic in front.

its an incredibly difficult thing to do. Lidstrom was incredible at doing that his whole career.

theyre an elite team, no doubt.

but even elite teams can be beaten in a 7 game series with a lot of other factors other than straight up roster comparisons.

and i still like our 3rd and 4th line a helluva lot more than theirs.

let's assume the rangers 3rd and 4th lines are

brassgod & co, and the boyle line.

lets assume that the kings top 6 are pearson, carter, toff, kopitar, brown, and gabby...meaning their bottom 6 are who..
Williams, King, Stoll, lewis, richards, and clifford?

Williams: 7/11/18
King: 2/6/8
Stoll: 2/2/4
Lewis: 4/1/5
Clifford: 0/3/3
Richards: 2/6/8

17/29/46

Rangers:
MZA: 4/7/11
Brass: 5/4/9
Pou: 3/5/8
Moore: 3/4/7
Boyle: 2/4/6
Dorsett: 0/1/1
17/25/42

in 1 fewer game played...against some ATROCIOUS goaltending.

You're the second poster here I have seen that believes winning doesn't make you the bepist. That your opinion trumps results.

Whoever wins is the best team at that point in time. That is all that matters. If the Rangers win the Cup and other fans say the Rangers are not the best team, I will guess you will disagree with them.

It's not opinion. Without making a long drawn out post, statistics from a large sample size are worth more than the results of a small sample size. Boston is a better team than the Habs, despite the Habs winning 4 against them.

The Rangers may be the best team in the league, sure, because they're an elite team. However, hockey is a game of luck and bounces and we might not have made it out of the first or second round, but we're still a better team than Philadelphia. I think it's ludicrous that we deem the "best teams" in sports like Football based on one game playoffs. It's more palatable in hockey as it's out of 7, but ignoring the regular season entirely when declaring "best teams" is ridiculous. For example again, SJS is better than Minnesota, even though Minnesota went to the second round.

I just read through the Kings thread on their board...my god. They think our team sucks. I'm ****ing pumped now. I want this so bad.

Reading through the thread, there is one particular frequent poster who spews vitriol with every post (trash, joke, etc.). It's making the whole thread seem worse than it is.

My favorite gem is that we are the champions of the Leastern Conference. :shakehead:

Is it Wednesday yet?

Why is everyone so excited for the sweep to begin?
