I have less faith in the teams around the Bruins than I do in Boston. The standings look better now after most of these teams squandered some games in hand. Rangers and Islanders still have 2 but we will see

if you look at the standings and the way other teams that are battling are playing, the playoffs are still within reach, especially with a game with Ottawa and a game with Detroit coming. Get Hampus back and win those two games and streak win some more and they are solidly back in the wild card spots. This is far from over.
They have been poor on the road against current EC Playoff teams. They are 2-7-1 and those games remaining with Ottawa & Detroit are away games.
Yeah they beat Detroit but that was before Uncle Fester was fired. Clearly Detroit's issue was coaching. Ottawa does have some injuries with Pinto and Norris but we will see if they heal up. It sucks those games are after the trade deadline as you would have probably gotten a clear direction of buy or sell.

but will Lindholm be back, that could be huge for a team that has been so shaky on defense recently

State of the Bruins: Playoffs and trade market update at 4 Nations break

MoneyPuck gives the Bruins just a 14.9 percent chance of making the playoffs based on its model.

“The Bruins have only three more matchups against the other five teams in the standings chart above. They play the Senators, Red Wings and Islanders once more apiece. So there's not a ton of head-to-head chances for the Bruins to pick up two points on the opponents they're battling for a wild card berth. This means the B's will need help from these teams faltering down the stretch.”

I believe they are referring to who Hampus would be replacing in the lineup and he would be a big upgrade.
sure, but i don't think replacing Callahan/Oesterle/Spoon with Hampus, who has missed 35 games and counting will make that big of a jump in play, especially for the first couple weeks while he's getting back in game shape and knocking off the rust.

B's are on an 86pt pace through 57 games. I think 93 gets in. so they need 33 points in 25 games, which is a 108pt pace. I don't see Hampus making anything close to that kind of difference even if he was replacing me in the lineup

people talking about Hampus like he's Bourque. He's a good player, but he's not going to make *that* much difference, especially right away
Ty Anderson was saying this on the 98.5 hockey show on Saturday. Paraphrasing here but basically can't expect a guy coming off a major injury who hasn't played in months to be some sort of savior on the defense.

Bruins are deficient in too many areas of the game to be one player away from fixing it all.

On pace for 88 points.

The math just doesn’t work.
Barring them going on another run like they did when they axed Monty, it ain’t happening.
if they win in regulation time against Ottawa and Detroit they could math their way in

and the fact that they are very much still in this makes me even angrier that McAvoy and Marchand are playing in this stupid tournament when they haven't been 100% all season already

At least Pasta will be fresh!
Hopefully he stays as hot as he has been.
If they do something stupid like trading Geekie, that will affect Pasta's play..The 2 Czechs are used to Geekie and this could be a top6 line for years to come if we resign Zacha...Would you trade Geekie or resign him?? He should score 20 after a horrible start so what would a multi yr contract look like, what would be fair to both parties??
Seems to this poster Geekie is on the up and I would love to see him signed similar to Zacha, 4 yrs at 4.5 a season..You good folks think thats a fair and reasonable deal??
Providence has 3 players that are hot in Lysell, Merkulov and Farincinni[sp..Tha latter after a poor start has 20 pts past 20 games..Yes, really poor start but on fire of late..Yet Sweeney keeps playing Oliver Wahlstrom..He went 20+ games without a goal for Isles when they put him on waivers..Since coming to Boston, he has just 1 goal 1 assist in 15 games and even though he playes light minutes, still a -6...While our so called rookies in Prov seem to be ignored, HOW can you place a value on players the team know very little about because they have no nhl experience...Farincinni drafted 2019[Yotes], Lysell 1st rd in 2021 and Merkulov is already 25..Will they EVER play for Bruins?? EVER>>I'm friggin tired of waiting and you cant trade either when you dont know how good or bad they are..DO NOT get me going about Dipietro or even Bussi..Instead we do Ottawa a HUGE favor by picking up 75% of Korpiselo's contract to play 20 games a season...We already have 2 that can do that and we had them when Donny made that Ullmark trade..Sorry, I'm completely lost and have no idea what Sweeney is doing to our prospects..I mean HOW can they play with confidence knowing they wont get a call up no matter how good of a weekend they have!! Rant over, hope all have a super weekend and stay safe friends!!

Deadline schmedline.
All we need to do is bring on "Hamburglar" Hammond for a duck boat-worthy stretch run.
He'll still have some gas left in the tank. He went 20-1-2 with Ottawa back in 2014-15.
Sway and Korpi need to sit back and watch how it's done.
