As a team they were better in RS.And Kucherov scoring 30+ points.
Everybody on our team gets worse when separated from Kucherov.

The one anomalous year Kucherov was out the team had an incredible lineup. It doesn't speak to Kucherov being expendable more than it does the team just being flat out great. And Kucherov scoring 30+ points.

His contract only has 3 years left, not world ending.0 points today, -3.
No lockouts coming up so no free buyouts to save the Preds there.
Would any team be desperate to take his contract at half off? Maybe...4 million not terrible with the cap boost.
Nobody expected him to score 50-50-100, but a 30 goal power play specialist shouldn't have been out of the question.Stamkos signing in Nashville reminds me so much of Messier signing in Vancouver.
He's 35. What exactly were you expecting? He score 50g 100 points?
We're already 3rd last in the league.I mean you can drag it out with this core and continue to finish 11-14 and THEN do the rebuild or you can just bottom out and rebuild right away. The mini run last year shouldn't fool anyone, them being awful before and after and doing nothing in the playoffs is the real story.
They can get some really good assets for what they have now or they can drag it out, get lesser assets later on and still have to do a total rebuild.
Perds don't need to go out of their way to ditch the contract or do him a solid. We have no cap issues. His signing, in part, also blocked playing time for our younger guys, some of whom we've now given away for basically nothing, and has handcuffed us from doing a proper rebuild. He has also played like trash.Wouldn't be surprised if NSH retains heavy or gives a huge sweetner to a third party to retain on Stammer and they ship him back to TB this summer or sometime next year.
I know. With Hedman,Vasy, Point...
What?Nice, leaving out the leading scorer of the playoffs. Thanks for tanking your credibility again.
Uh huh, and literally every player struggles to score when separated from him. Pretty possible that that team was just reeeeaaaally good, and had already adapted to the new style of play that they struggled to implement the season before. As a team they were better in RS.

He'll have more a chance now that Gus Nyquist is gone...not that I foresee many EN opportunities in our future. He can still practice against our own net, like he did the other night, though. His only chance to late-stage career redemption now is if he becomes a designated empty-net goal specialist, like Ovi, potting 10+ of those per year. Half of them with 0.7 seconds left on the clock (while up 3 goals).
More than that, the year before, when the team might have been even better, we struggled with Cooper's new system until roughly December. The next season we had it down. The one anomalous year Kucherov was out the team had an incredible lineup. It doesn't speak to Kucherov being expendable more than it does the team just being flat out great.
Maybe they struggled, but still were better P%-wise.Uh huh, and literally every player struggles to score when separated from him. Pretty possible that that team was just reeeeaaaally good, and had already adapted to the new style of play that they struggled to implement the season before.
Worst comment of the yearHis only chance to late-stage career redemption now is if he becomes a designated empty-net goal specialist, like Ovi, potting 10+ of those per year. Half of them with 0.7 seconds left on the clock (while up 3 goals).
He scored 40 last year and is still pacing for 25 this year, he can still be useful given the right situation. There are guys that have played 10+ years in the NHL that have never scored 25.His only chance to late-stage career redemption now is if he becomes a designated empty-net goal specialist, like Ovi, potting 10+ of those per year. Half of them with 0.7 seconds left on the clock (while up 3 goals).
