Just lol if you think the Leafs passed on him. He passed on the Leafs.

Yup. They will continue to find ways to not make Toronto look like losers.

They just didn't get him because they were not an attractive enough option for Stamkos, but of course, that might turn out to be good for them long term with the youth movement.

There's really no way for us to know either way. Not that it matters.

Anyway, Stamkos in Tampa with a good contract feels like the best outcome. I love seeing players stay with their teams through their whole career.

From what I have heard from various "insiders" no one knows for sure, but it seems he wanted to come in and have it be "his" team, and the Leafs weren't willing to structure the team around him.

Of course I understand ignoring all of this and taking shots at the Leafs whenever possible.

IF that's true that's a bad call all you need to do is look at the Cavs, everyone knows who really runs that team and they won a title.

If he wanted make us "his" team then we should have let him do it

He's not a $14MM guy. If that really is what he wanted, it would have been the worst contract in the history of contracts. It would have made Clarkson's deal looks good by comparison.

Well....i didn't want him at 10 mil....so thank God he "chose" to sign for 6 million per less....lol.

Edit: I also call BS on this number....

Are we comparing Stamkos and Lebron? Stamkos is good, but he's far from the best in the league. Maybe if it were Crosby saying it...

That never happened...
The Number never happened...

And Toronto was never close to signing Stamkos...

he was never leaving tampa ....the leafs would have insured his contract anyways ,if his blood clots return least tampa is safe hiding place

But if blood clots returns in his right shoulder, Stamkos wouldn't have to worry about lifting the cup anytime soon, that's the positive side to sign with Toronto.

A $14MM ask would have been insulting. I hadn't thought he's that kind of person.

 Alright this is pretty good. Although I'd say a team with Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Stamkos as their forward core WOULD have a reasonable chance.

To be honest I have little doubt Toronto will be competitive in the next handful of years, they're making the right decisions and it'll likely pay off.

You sign Stamkos to not structure your team around him? Okay then...
