I was watching Nick Susuki play tonight. He would look great on our 2nd line. That was our 1st round pick, but we traded it so we could keep Marko Dano.
But we have that going for us......which is nice.
No it was to protect enstrom

After reading through the posts here, I believe that losing Samberg and Ehlers certainly doesn’t help this team, but we weren’t looking good for quite a few games before Samberg went down, and Ehlers has only been out for a few games.

They are big pieces to miss, But I feel we were starting to go off the rails before they went down so I can’t put all the blame on missing those two players.

If I had to pick a turning point, I think it might be 55 and whatever injury he has. We seem to live and die based on how 55 plays and competes.

As for turning things around, that is going to depend on the coach and his ability to influence the team to adjust their game to their opponent and their energy levels. I mentioned in the game day thread that if they are tired, it’s much less strenuous to take shots on net and get bodies in front than it is to run around cycling and lose possession without getting a shot on net.. Save the ‘searching for a pretty play’ when you are rested and have a good amount of energy.

With Samberg out and Ehlers out, I would like to see Lambert given a little more rope at 2C and Heinola given an honest chance to prove himself. If the idea of calling up players is to put them into positions where you expect them to eventually wind up, then we should be trying Heinola with Morrissey for a short stint just to see if it works, and move DeMelo to somewhere where he can be more helpful. We aren’t going to find anyone outside of the organization to replace two important injured players, so we should give our internal options every opportunity.
Each loss adds 100k to sambergs salary next season

Fatigue is definitely part of the equation, the flip side is too much is being made of it.
It’s like stating Louisville Slugger’s cause home runs, it’s part of the story but not all of it.

The Jets haven’t looked bad every game in this stretch, but they have had a few stinkers including last night’s.
We’re going to find out soon enough about this team’s resilience
I agree again that fatigue plays a huge role and leads to the mental errors Arniel was talking about but this is their job, their main focus. I know we all have good and bad days at work but the issue I see in all 4 losses is teams figured out how to play the Jets and the Jets either are not working hard enough to get through the trap or coaches are not coaching them up properly or a bit of both.

Moreover,Beating bug and columbus would be nice but those are not playoff teams or in the Jets conference.

I've asked multiple posters for their opinions as to why the team isnt playing well if it isn't fatigue, and still crickets (even though one of them managed to call me a :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:er lol)

I guess bitching and complaining is more productive to some people than actually trying to offer answers
My take is the are not playing their system/ other teams figured out their system..
KFC for one is only able to contribute when there is open ice. They have to find a way to get him that open ice. I also think the blue line is thin. Losing Sandberg has affected the team more than I think anyone could have anticipated.
Finally, other teams are simply playing well and may just be better than the Jets.

They looked like we looked at points during the streak. Just skating hard to their marks every part of every shift. We just did not match that level of intensity with any consistency.
It's quite remarkable that after going 15-1 the Jets now have the worst record in the league in the last 10 games. And you start to wonder if the team took their foot off the pedal.

I don't think you can use injuries as an excuse, St. Louis went into last night's game without two top 4 d-men, and Bushnevich is probably the offensive equivalent of Ehlers. It's battle level to me. That road trip definitely wore the legs off the team, and it's 3 in 4 to end the week . Christmas break is still 3 weeks away, if the Jets go 3-7 in that stretch, they will be in a dogfight for a playoff position.

Who is going to step up?

I'd really like to see Miller back in on thursday.
And while were at it - those of you who are window shopping for a new, shiny pitchfork oughta take a look at the Buffalo board - It might make you appreciate what you have a bit more:sarcasm:
I've read most of this folder over three sittings and there's way too many pitchforks in here already.

We've won more games than any other team in the league, we sit second or third in most of the standings metrics, and we rate highly in most of those strange stats with acronyms and percentage names. And yet people are shopping for pitchforks? Unreal.

I agree with whoever said that if, at the start of the year, we'd been told where the team will sit after 25 games, there would have been universal applause. Instead ...... pitchforks.

No question about it the Jets laid a stinker but the mistakes than lead to all 4 Blues goal were all due to mental mistakes.
Scheifele knocks in the first one ... Pionk's pinches with no backup ... 3 Jet players around a loose puck and the empty net Lowry tries to pass the puck back to the point threw a crowd instead of using the boards. That's not the Jet team we saw in October and early November.
This is the NHL if you are not ready to play you are not going to win too many games.
Sure you can blame it on ... teams know how to play the Jets ... the schedule ... the injuries but in the end as a team they have to figure it out and get back to playing Jets hockey.
The good news bad news the next game ... two teams on 4 game winless streak ... somebody has to win.

I'm sorry to pipe in with math talk but there's a reason the jets set a record with their opening to the season. It's statistically very unlikely to win like that in this league. The NHL is full of killers. The jets shooting percentage is REQUIRED by the law of the universe to be normal or close to normal for large sample sizes. I still think it's a good team but they look very tired. They aren't winning races to the puck and that's everything.

I think for me, Connor is usually the least of my worries. When he struggles, it's usually not for too long in my mind. I think he's one of our most consistent players. I don't see his game change too much day in and out.

Yeah I'm not even frustrated with Stanley, he is what he is, but we have better options and it's time for the org to just move on. Keep him as bench strength.

Forcing Heinola to play his offside and scratching Miller to play him is just nonsensical to me
Unfortunately I don't think kc does alot when he is not scoring, how many times in a game does he do the excuse me check on the offensive side of play, but he does have a good offensive game with the right people.

We are also getting a preview of "life without Ehlers" if he chooses not to re-sign or the Jets chose not to re-sign.

One of the few positives of this recent bad run is that maybe it highlights Ehlers importance to the management resulting in a new contract and maybe cools them a bit on how to handle the Pionk extension or lack thereof.

I think they pick one of Foote/Valimako/Brannstrom if they still had the pick.

Garret said Liljegren was their man at that pick. Not the worst pick in that spot.

I think he's been much better defensively. He'll never win the style but I think he's on the right side of positive. I also then that even when he's not producing, he's still generating looks, unlike a guy like Vilardi who just becomes practically invisible

You need to read all the earlier comments this year about Connor's greatly improved two-way play and how his great defensive efforts have saved us being scored on.

In hindsight one of Chevy's biggest mistakes. Overpaid to keep Enstrom and missed out on Suzuki / Norris / Thomas.
Never got the Enstrom hype, sure was never the guy the Thrashers crew raved about!

And yeah out schedule is crap, guess the NHL considers the Jets and Winnipeg in the lucky to have a team category still~

If we are looking for a 2C, we need look no further than Volare. I have been wanting to see him play the center role since the trade.
I'd like to see Volare between Perfetti and Nino. That way, Arnie can still play his 55-81 duo and still have a very good 2nd line.
KC Scheif Lambert
Perfetti Volare Nino
Iafallo Lowry Apples
Barron Kup Names

As far as Buffalo goes, they have lost their last 4 and had a 4-0 lead on the Avs yesterday and lost 5-4 in regulation time. Dahlin went down and didn't return but I am unsure if he will play tomorrow. Their D corps is suspect, to say the least.
Life long fans have had enough and are talking about not even following the team any more. They want everyone gone and the team sold to a new owner. Some of the comments they have made make me feel for them to be honest. Some fans want the team sold and moved; however, they are not to be taken lightly as they have some really good players but are poor defensively as a team.

Most fans won't like this, but I'd trade for a bona fide 2LHD. I would have started as soon as I heard Sammy's foot was broken. Whether it's Provorov, Marcus Pettersson, Chabot, Power or Bobby freaking Orr, it is a gap that needs to be filled. When Sammy is healthy, we would have some LHD to trade/waive but it is what I would do.

Vilardi is not someone I would want in a tinker town fox hole,it frustrates me to know end to see that size and skill coupled with his lack of work effort and has no physicality, but hey people like the dude along with iafallo who should of been benched in last years playoffs for gaw and lack of interest along the boards, your not going along ways in the playoffs with either.
