SSM Greyhounds 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

Then why is Solomon scratched, why isn't Miller playing? Cant get experience when coach runs the same 5 on the PP and 4 on the PK. Overages Allard, Carlisle and Cloutier all getting top minutes and top assignments.
Had the pleasure of sitting near some Soo players parents tonight and some were not happy with the start and 1 parent not happy with no adjustments made. I asked about Solomon and he was injured in practice before series started and played the first game banged up and couldn't go tonight. Funny our former Captains mom said he was the only plus player in game 1, I had to double check, it sure looked like they needed him for net front presence as they got owned all over the D zone tonight. Protas best player in the league and Greentree not far off. We are in a major fight just to steal a game. Hounds need to pick it up if they want to see game 5. Off to the Casino to try my luck there. Go Hounds

Is home ice advantage enough to make up a 5/6 goal deficit? Asking for a friend.
Yes apparently it was.

The biggest difference was being able to have Carlisle and Evans out against Greentree and Potras rather than BMB pairing. Coach Dean did a good job defensively getting the right line out against the top line of Windsor which you can do at home.

It also helped that Windsor was missing their top Dman as well out of the lineup.

this coach can't win the big game apparently!
Gotta hand it to him, he played the matchups perfectly. Even moving Smith up to play with Nordh and Allard proved to be a good move for last night.
I was really impressed with Allard last night, and I’ve been critical of him in the past. other than the icing that led to the tying goal, he was fantastic on draws and hustling/back checking against Greentree-Protas-Morneau.
Windsor is going to come out flying in Game 4, need to defend very strongly for the first 10 minutes to keep the game tight.

Hindsight , even though mignossa is a good offensive player, don't think i would
have had him on the ice in the last 25 seconds of regulation . Dean did a good job
with having allard out against Protas will give him props for that.

Yep it’s when Windsor has the last change that is the real issue. Might have to triple shift #7 in Windsor.

Current Roster construction:
OA (3) - Allard*, Carlisle*, Lalonde*
05 (4) - Nordh*, Mignosa, Velliaris*, Cloutier
06 (6) - Miller, Vader, Brown, McConnell-Barker, Evans, Hilton
07 (9) - Martin, Muxlow, Holub, Smith, Gillen, Charron, Hayes, Solomon, Reid
08 (2) - Andrew, Smith
* - expected graduates (2 F, 2 D, 1 G)

Looking forward to next year, it would be great if the D openings could be filled by 08 Croskery, and maybe 08 Allen who I really liked in camp last year. I imagine our two 09 first rounders will be forwards. That leaves a goalie. We have a few in the system, or we could go out and fill our 3rd OA spot with a goalie. Let's say we bring in an OA goalie.

2025-2026 Roster construction:
OA (3) - Mignosa*, Cloutier*, goalie*
06 (6) - Miller, Vader, Brown, McConnell-Barker, Evans, Hilton (*** 3 age out/traded)
07 (9) - Martin, Muxlow, Holub, Smith, Gillen, Charron, Hayes, Solomon, Reid
08 (4) - Andrew, Smith, Croskery, Allen
09 (2) - forward, forward

Not a lot of graduates over the next two seasons. Equals not a lot of spots available. I would be ok trading some of our picks this draft away for futures.
