Hounds lost to another decent team, plan the parade.
- coach Dean
I get you're frustrated, as are a ton of fans. But at the same time, what's he supposed to say?? The team's effort has been there over the past month. They are improving, maybe slowly, but the development is coming along, the compete is there. Lalone out really hurts. This team will need upgrades at goaltending if they plan to contend in the next few years.

It's too bad the Martin hit directly led to 2 powerplay goals tonight. That was really deflating. Crazy how much hockey has changed... 10-20 years ago you make a hit like that (one of the best if not THE best I've ever seen tbh) it completely energizes your bench. Now he gets a 2 minute minor because he just hits too hard, and the players' helmet flew off.. I guess..

Other than that, I felt the boys came out with good energy tonight and didn't quit. Yes they make mistakes. Yes it's redundant and it feels like we are getting nowhere. But we just need to give them more time. The talent is there. Just need to harness it. Anyway this is all imo, Rant over!!

I thought we were absolutely superb on 5-5 play in this game. It's unfortunate that this didn't lead to a different result, but we'll win 90% of games if we play like that going forward.

I'd like to hear an explanation as to what the penalty was on Martin, but the refs deciding outcome of the game is not surprising, given that it was Burchell. We all knew that going in.

I'd like to hear it too. Martin doesn't even stride, when watching the replay. He's just a truck. Just hit him too hard. It's hockey in 2025 man. Even the Saginaw fans below us agreed once they saw the replay.

Need better goaltending than what we saw tonight. Definitely be in the running for 1st overall if Lalonde is out for a longer period of time. Regardless of if they were on the powerplay. A number of shots that beat him clean that could have been saved.

holub is not better than our canadian kids. if the European ain't a game changer play our boys. period

gonna build around martin up front and reid at the back. the future is bright.

Holub time is ending. Soo will need to utilize both import picks. One is going to have to be a goalie because we are royally screwed in net..(unless someone sees something I don’t )

Nothing, nothing he can say matters anymore. His shelf life has expired lol

Potential Number 1 goalie going forward incoming.....

This season (2024-25), the 6.04, 185-lb netminder has had an impressive season to-date with one of the top teams in the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (OJHL) Collingwood Blues.
In 28 games to-date, Tegelaar has compiled a 21-4-3-0 record to go along with a 1.78 GAA, .938 SV% and 9 shutouts.
He has the 3rd best GAA, 2nd best SV% and most shutouts in the twenty-four team league.
In addition he was ranked #14 among North American Goalies in the NHL Central Scoutings Mid-Term Rankings.
Noah was also a member of Canada East for the Canadian Junior A Challenge.

Originally drafted out of the Guelph Gryphons U18 AAA Program, Noah played the 2023-24 season for the NOJHL’s Blind River Beavers.
In a season he was named the NOJHL Rookie of the Year (John Grignon Trophy) he accumulated a 27-4-1-0 regular season record to go along with a 2.02 GAA, 928 SV% and six shutouts.

Both player's have been mismanaged and not developed! So does the blame go to the player's? This team is much more talented than their record shows so once again who do we blame?

Tegelaar and Miller may both be 19 yrs old next year. I think they are both 2006 birthdates.
If so, it's unlikely they both will be with the Hounds as overagers in the "Go For It" year in 2026/2027. This fan wishing both these young men push each other the rest of this year, and become the elite starter in their graduating year next season. Maybe a terrific 1 - 2 punch next year? Or maybe the Hounds do not carry two 19 year old goalies for the entire year next season?

More importantly, welcome to the Greyhounds Noah!

You can easily carry two 2006 goalies next season, and even for the first half of the following season (only dressing one each night). If it's obvious which one is better you can cut your losses sooner, but if it's not, you have lots of runway with both.

100% agree.
Holub maybe,

but IMO miller has been handled fine. he got all the bottom feeder games last year that padded his stats. many people were worried that he wouldn't be able to take the reigns against the big teams and that has been true. i don't know what else they could have done. maybe if he made some saves and won some of the bigger games but he didn't. I don't know...

IMO the problem was with the scouting. that whole draft kids were way overvalued and picked where they shouldn't have been. and that comes with certain expectations. its a tough spot to be in. Evans was our 6th rounder and IMO is the best of the group of 06s.

not a great situation, especially when you have kids feelings to accommodate as well. from what i've heard, they're all great kids so i hope we can get it figured out. Best case scenario, Miller and Telegaar go one for one until Lalonde gets back, Telegaar goes back to collingwood after his 10 games and miller gets some confidence and swaggar back, and finishes the year as the backup. then next year, they both come in and fight for the starter position.

as always, just my opinion.

Nothing wrong with your opinion! Maybe if they would have traded Schenkel at the start of season and gave Miller a run they might know what they have or don't have! With a team that is building for the future I really didn't see the benefit of having an overage goalie! If they needed a goalie they could have traded for one or brought one in like London did! They are barely holding on to eighth with an overage goalie for what to get smoked by London! Play your young guys and continue to develop them for the next step! As for Miller I think he needs a change of scenery!

agreed.

they were in a tough spot early on.., he was getting yanked quite regularily at the start of the season...so we had two options. run with Shenkle (who was playing very well) and keep the games close, while allowing the young skaters to make mistakes, or run with Miller and be down by 4 before the mid point of the game and be clawing back every night. with a young team, you don't want the morale to be that low. is it the right path? maybe? maybe not. i'm not one to say. but i agree, i think a change of scenery will do him great. and i hope he gets it, for his sake.

i also go back and forth about tanking for 1st. i know some people think sneaking in 8th and playing london won't be much experience, but any playoff experience is playoff experience IMO. maybe they learn something from that series. even if it's 4 games. I'm still not set on what i'd rather in that department.

one thing for certain is we absolutely need to hit on both 1sts next year. and if we could trade for a 2nd, it'd help with our deadline in 2 years as well.

find some systems instead of dump and chase and the trap and we will have a hockey team.

Quite regularly? That was 31 minutes of hockey and then Schenkel got pulled in the next game, where Miller was good in relief. He didn't get pulled again for more than a month afterwards.

Miller had a very strong .902 SV% from the third game into the Christmas break and was showing everything that we needed to see from a young goaltender.

After that, we threw him to the wolves against Windsor and have hardly played him since. With such inconsistent playing time and a lack of confidence shown in him, it's no surprise at all that he hasn't been great in the last couple of games. This is almost 100% on the coaching staff and team. No young player is going to develop well in those circumstances.

Wow!'5-0 end of the 1st! If you think goaltending is their problem you need to watch a little closer! That was just painful to watch. Any other team would have fired their coach with how this team plays! Very little structure and game planning! Not sure how you think you can run and gun with the best team in the OHL! I'm not sure they will make the playoffs and it might be the best thing!
