SSM Greyhounds 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

How do you send a ticket to CHL tv? I was very annoyed that I couldn’t watch the OT
I eventually found a support link on their website.
I’m not a fan of either team, just an interested 3rd party watching the playoff race for 8th and I was annoyed.

His time is coming to an end..

There are now parents of STAR players agreeing that Dean must be removed in the Soo Greyhound fan club on Facebook…. It’s coming.

There’s always someone that defends Dean.

Go read his comment about the game. “ just couldn’t handle it “ that’s his god damn slogan.

Not properly coached is what that translates to.

Parents don’t run a hockey club, nor should they. I’m sure there are MANY parents past and present not happy with coaches/management at all levels. This is the junior level and these kids are moving towards playing professional hockey, their parents can’t take matters into their own hands anymore lol. That isn’t a good enough reason to get rid of anyone imo. Not saying change isn’t warranted, It very well could be time for new leadership. Just imo

Miller has been on the exact same development path as most successful goalies. Playing sheltered back-up minutes as a 16 and 17yo and then given the chance to take the reins as an 18yo. He’s been given plenty of opportunity to run with the ball this year and he’s failed. If he can’t show more in the next 15 games (especially with Lalonde out) then yes, the Greyhounds will likely be looking for a goalie this offseason and rightfully so.
Yep. About 99.99% of people see it this way. But there is still a debate because of someone 🙈👍🏻

So nice to have Christopher Brown back. The lack of any natural centres after Martin and Allard has easily cost us double digit points this season.

A 3rd line C is worth double digital points increase over the. This I would love to see quantified. Just a guess on my part but I'll call out the hyperbole here.
Just can't see many 3rd liners grabbing you 10+ team points over their replacement . . But then again Allard was the most sought OA and F in the league and would bring back a Gibson or Allen type return. ;)
Hyperbole doesn't help the arguement

I actually technically agree with Fishy here on this one, which is rare, I know. There has been a handful of games where Martin or Allard started the game, either got injured, or a long misconduct and Hounds have basically 0 centreman where it stood out to me. For a stretch of games, original Brady Smith was the top line center and it showed as it hurt production.

I can't quantify it in points either, but the lack of depth at C has been a big problem for the Hounds this year.

Vader and Brown are fine for 3rd and 4th line C, and it is important to have 3 full lines going, especially with the way Coach Dean uses his top 2 lines and basically runs them to the ground every night.

a 4th line goal yesterday with Hilton, Muxlow getting some points is something we have not seen this year from the Greyhounds, who also sometimes dress 11 forwards and 7 defense and don't even run a 4th line.

There were a lot of NHL scouts in the building last night. At least 6 NHL representatives in the building. Brady Martin put on a good show for them with 5 points and being the best player on the ice all game.

I know Kris Draper beside me was taking notes on Landon Miller, Jordan Charron and Travis Hayes. I would expect a few more scouts in the building tonight, as draft eligible Noah Tegelaar should be getting the start in net i would expect on a a back to back.

Would have loved to see Draper, Wings legend. Hopefully he stuck around town for Friday night but highely unlikely to spend that duration scouting in the same city.

Is Allard ever going to play again? He has basically been injured since after last year's World Jr's! His development path has definitely been a tough battle! Nordh has really struggled without him! They seemed to have some decent chemistry!

Not sure on the extent of injury to Lalonde, but if Hounds finished 7th and played Windsor 1st round , who are you starting in net ? I assume Allard is back for playoffs if not a week earlier

Martin 4G 8pts in 2 games so far. If he has another couple points against Brampton he will probably be player of the week or in the running

It's been 4 consecutive fairly strong games for Miller, now that he's finally getting some consistent time. I guess it would depend when Lalonde returns, if he does.

If the goal is get some playoff experience and growth for next year do you not consider going with Miller then? What’s the sense starting the OA Goalie if your expecting to lose in 5 or maybe 4 straight

In my opinion I’m still a firm believer in actually trying to win. Odds might be against you but it’s playoffs, you have to go with your best. How is that fair to Martin, Hayes, Mignosa, Reid etc. to say “We’re going to start our backup over our starter because we just want the experience right now”. Especially with the way the core 07’s have been performing lately. The 4 or 5 games still have to be meaningful in order for it to be counted as “playoff experience”. Does throwing Miller out there because it may help him in the future outweigh the experience and effect it will have on the rest of the room? As far as I’m concerned, I’m still looking for an upgrade in net for the next 2 years. So I go with Lalone, but just imo. As always.

Hearing Lalonde is close to return. I believe Noah is heading back to Collingwood. Not 100% on this though

I'm not sure why some fans still think this team isn't looking for an upgrade in goal for next year. Just look at Miller's numbers or even watch the goals against every night. He is not a starting goalie in this league!
